Asus VivoBook S451LA review: Low price, but not much else

The Asus VivoBook S451LA has a relatively low price and a touchscreen, but doesn't offer very much else.

The Asus VivoBook S451 looks like a premium machine, and offers a responsive, 14-inch touchscreen for just $700.

The VivoBook S451 offers a middling experience: it's heavy, slow, and the keyboard and touchpad are lackluster. The screen has a low resolution for a midsize laptop.

Some might call the midsize Asus VivoBook S451 attractive, and it's certainly inexpensive, but too many sacrifices were made to hit that budget price.

ASUS VivoBook V451LA

Some devices try to offer the best of both worlds, splitting from keyboard bases or bending over backward for our comfort. Others, like the $700 Asus VivoBook S451, graft a touchscreen onto a run-of-the-mill laptop chassis and call it a day. While this...

ATI Radeon 7500 64mb PCI card

Overall, I would say if you cross paths with this laptop, then just keep looking, this isn't what you want.

A lot of USB ports, Bluetooth works well, and the DVD player is nice to have

This computer has been very laggy for me recently, it freezes a lot, and the keyboard is not all that great to type on, but that's mainly opinion. Overall, for the money you pay, you're really not getting that big of a bang for your buck

Having problems

This is not the first review to talk about major keyboard problems. I would stay away from this computer. It's a shame because it has a lot going for it.

The computer runs games well. I can run Arma 3 on it and have fun. That's amazing ; The computer runs really really cool even on high load. It's the coolest running laptop I've felt

The motherboard was bad. I had to send it in for repair. Asus paid for the shipping and repair but not the packaging. It cost me $25 in packaging. I sent it for repair and got it back in about two weeks which was nice ; Keys are really bad. They are...
