Averatec 4200 Review (pics, specs)

Averatec calls their 4200 series notebook not too big, not too small...just perfect. For mobile users who want great portability but a more practical screen size and keyboard (and price!), this might be exactly correct. Following is a full review of...

Great looks Good performance Fantastic screen Great value Good battery life Quiet

Build quality / quality control not top notch. Heat Keyboard could be improved upon

The Averatec 4200 series is a great notebook with good specifications at a very competitive price. The Multi Format DVD burner is a real bonus at this price range. It also looks great! It's easy to buy because there are not many options. It comes well...

Averatec 4200

Designed for highly mobile students and cost-conscious business travelers, the $1,199 (as of August 2005) Averatec 4200 thin-and-light laptop is priced low and offers plenty of features, including a DVD burner. While the system demonstrated great...

Low price; playful design; good battery life; very portable; multiformat DVD burner

Poor application performance; finicky touch pad and mouse buttons; battery warranty lasts just six months

The colorful Averatec 4200 may not deliver the fastest performance, but it has enough oomph for basic tasks and offers some nice features, including a DVD burner, at a bargain price.

Averatec 4200 AV4265-EH1 Review

Creamy-white laptop with midnight blue lid boasts just-right 13.3-inch widescreen.

Handsome case ; just-right screen size

Unimpressive battery life

Except for the outdated information regarding its two hot buttons, the AV4265-EH1's documentation (in the form of a preinstalled Acrobat manual) seems solid; it does a good job of walking users through upgrades, always a plus. But the contents page is...

Averatec 4200 AV4265-EH1AV4265

Unusual 13.3-inch wide screen sets this laptop apart.

This 13.3-inch wide screen offers striking looks and an appealing weight. I would wait until Averatec makes the AveraPlay media button fully functional again, though, before buying.

Averatec AV4265-EH1

The AveraBrite widescreen is bright and great for DVD movie watching. The full-size keyboard won't cramp your fingers, even when you're working on extensive papers or reports. The touchpad and mouse buttons are responsive, reminding us of those found...

Stylish. Lightweight. Vivid screen. Large hard drive

Falls a bit short on performance. Weak speakers

A workhorse the Averatec AV4265-EH1 is not, but a lightweight portable system that can handle day-to-day tasks with aplomb it most definitely is.

Averatec 4200 Widescreen Notebook - Reviews by Mobile Tech Review

Averatec 4200 13" Widescreen Notebook

Who says a widescreen Centrino notebook with a bright, glassy display weighing less than 5 lbs. has to cost $2,000 or more? Averatec has a way of bringing notebooks to market that cost far less than competing brands. While Averatec's very first...

Wow, only $1,199 list price for a slick looking 13.3" widescreen notebook that weighs less than 5 pounds?! Not only that, Averatec didn't scrimp on the internals: the latest Centrino chipset, a 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor, 512 megs of RAM and a DVD...

Problems from the Start - Terrible Customer Support

I purchased an Averatec 4200 series laptop in June. I have two other Averatec products and have been quite satisified. This one has been nothing but problems. I have now returned it twice for the same problem (it shuts off suddenly or will not turn...
