Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 (2016) review

The Dell Inspiron 17 7000 packs robust power and a big screen, but it's just too big.

If you deeply desire a 17-inch laptop with a reversible hinge, we’re pretty sure this is your only option. Enjoy.

Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 review: It's a flippin' shame

The first 17-inch backflipping notebook is good, but it could have been great.

The Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 offers a spacious 17-inch backflipping touchscreen, discrete Nvidia graphics, an accurate touchpad and a face-recognizing camera -- all in a remarkably thin metal frame.

Poor battery life and fewer features than Dell's 13- and 15-inch hybrid models -- even though this 17-inch version costs hundreds more. The power button, located on the edge, is easy to press by accident.

This Dell might be the easiest way to carry around a giant touchscreen, but it sacrifices a lot. Dell's slightly smaller, near-identical 15-inch version is less expensive and better equipped for the job.

Dell Inspiron 17 7000 Series (7778)

The Dell Inspiron 17 7000 (7778) is the world's first 17-inch 2-in-1 convertible laptop, and it fully demonstrates both the benefits and limitations of that idea.

Solid performance. Large touch screen.

Overly bulky in Tablet mode. Odd button placement.

Conclusion As the world's first 17-inch 2-in-1, the Dell Inspiron 17 7000 Series (7778) makes history—but it's unlikely to change the face of the category. The 2-in-1 concept that makes so much sense for smaller laptops is cumbersome when magnified to...

Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 Review

The Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 has a big, beautiful display and solid performance for a convertible multimedia laptop, but its keyboard is shallow and its sheer size is clunky for the form factor.

Beautiful display; Powerful speakers; Solid performance

Shallow keyboard; Unwieldy; Blurry webcam

Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 review: A convertible laptop with a HUGE screen

Our Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 review takes a look at the largest of the new Inspiron 7000 convertible laptop line up from Dell.

Our Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 review unit had the following features and specifications: While it was a no brainer to add the Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 to our list of Top Picks for 2016, unfortunately the Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 falls just short in its...

Dell Inspiron 17 7779 review – if you ever need a 17-inch 2-in-1

The bottom line is that the Inspiron 7779 uses a high-quality IPS panel with high maximum brightness, high contrast, wide sRGB coverage and fairly good stock settings of the gamma, color reproduction and color temperature. Our profiles, however, will...

Good all-aluminum design; Good touchpad; Excellent display with wide sRGB coverage, high contrast and high maximum brightness; No PWM across all brightness levels; Good battery life

Hefty and big for a 2-in-1; Ineffective cooling system that cripples performance as well; Pricey; Small and mushy keyboard; Not enough I/Os for 17-inch laptop

The Inspiron 7779 is a notebook from a category of its own. There aren’t many 2-in-1 17-inch options currently on the market so if you ever need one, the Inspiron 7779 might be your only choice. And that’s unfortunate because there are several things...

Dell Inspiron 7779 (7000 series) 17-inch convertible – an owner’s review

The options for a convertible laptop with a large 17-inch screen are very limited out there, so if you're after such a computer you'd surely have the Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 series on your list.

Bottom point, if you’re looking for a 17-inch laptop with a slim profile, solid construction, a convertible screen and the performance and battery life to cater to everyday activities, the Dell Inspiron 7779 can be the one for you.

Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 review

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 Black Edition has shown how premium the range can get, and ushers in the latest generation of Inspiron laptops that can go head to head with the Dell XPS in some ways

Competent performance Highly versatile Premium design

Quirky display 4K battery drain Bunk speakers

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 Black Edition is a versatile 2-in-1 with plenty going on under the hood. Its design is premium, and it can compete with the XPS 13. Though this model is discontinued, the new generation takes the best from this and...

Dell Inspiron 17 7000 review

A flipping huge convertible with potential

Large display ; Solid build quality ; Attractive design

1080p display resolution only ; Bulky ; Heavy

The first 17-inch convertible laptop is a solid performer and a compelling option for businesses looking to show off their content while on the move. It's just a shame that the Inspiron 17 17000's considerable size and heft will slow you down in the...
