HP Pavilion 17z-ak000 (A9-9420, Radeon 530) Laptop Review

A snail's pace. Stoney Ridge is bottom of the barrel when it comes to overall performance. The AMD option may save a few bucks here and there, but the sluggish responsiveness is a very high price to pay.

full performance on battery power ; removable battery ; no CPU throttling ; wide color gamut ; decent speakers ; optical drive ; low price

slow primary HDD; very slow system performance ; below average battery life; small battery capacity ; not as power efficient as latest Intel offerings ; inconsistent performance in games ; loud fan noise under load ; weak CPU performance

The AMD-powered Pavilion notebooks have all been a test of patience. Not only is performance slow, but applications take far too long to launch each and every time. No one wants to wait 6+ seconds to launch a Word document only to wait another 6+...

Product appeared to be a good value, but...

Apparent good value at purchase, but when we started using it, we couldn't connect to our home wi-fi unless we were in the same room as our router. After a chat with a technologist, I was informed that our wireless connectivity/card is a range of 10-15...

Expected better performance

Added lighted keyboard, hybrid disk drive and Intel WLAN to base unit. With the Hybrid disk, 8GB of memory and one of AMD's faster processors I thought this would be a screamer. It isn't. To be fair, the lags in response could be caused by Windows 10....
