Review HP Compaq Presario CQ57-303SG Notebook

Good and cheap? How much power does a notebook need to cope with

Very low purchase price; Good price/performance ratio; Comparatively high graphics performance; Low power consumption and heat development; Long battery life

Poor processor performance; Poor connectivity; Below average screen quality; Permanently active fan; No HDMI out

Among the competitors that we have previously reviewed: HP 630, HP 635 or the Lenovo G575. Depending on the configuration, the Fujitsu Lifebook AH530 is available for less than €400.

COMPAQ CQ57-229WM

For the price it is good if you are looking to just browse the internet and use it lightly. But for gaming and videos you best do a memory upgrade.

Very lightweight and nice. Price is awesome

The memory is too low to run Windows 7 effectively in the longterm. I suggest you update memory to 8GB

Decent for basic laptop

Overall the computer works pretty good, which is why it got 4 eggs. The processor is a little weak so load times may take a little longer to load up, but after it is up and running it processes pretty smoothly and overall a good starter laptop for...

Has everything you need to get started with. Allows internet access, has some nice features that come along with it, battery life is decent, and the web cam works nicely. Bought this as a Christmas gift when the price was around $299 and so far so good

I understand that this is a recertified device, but the drivers for the wireless, video graphics, and card reader were never preinstalled for this device and that is a bit unexcusable, hence why it lost an egg in my review. Wasn't too big of a deal...

Basic, cost effective laptop

In regard to another review, I 'm not quite sure why a Tech Level 5 HDMI Guy would even buy this computer. It's obvious it doesn't have an HDMI output, so why buy if that was so important, and then bash it on the rating? I think this computer is just...

Cost effective ; Decent performance ; Nice screen

NO HDMI

This unit is good for small children and teens. Not good for adults. Buy an ASUS they come with allot more bells and whistles for around the same price.

Cheap. For everyone with teens in school this is a decent deal

Very low end. Only 2gb ram, when ram right now is dirt cheap. No HDMI. The video chip on the motherboard supports HDMI, they just are too cheap to put a $5 or less connector on it. Too bad

You get more than what you paid for it

For the price($350), you can't go wrong and it gets the job done. It has only been one week, but from owning a laptop before the first impression is good. “A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.” – Emo Philips

The laptop is small and light, but sturdy at the same time. Keyboard feels good, I like my laptops w/o number pads so I especially love this one. The CPU isn't anything special, but it runs very well form what I've been doing. At 1.6 GHz I am satisfied...

Only con I've found was by the slot reader, there is a ding or a big dent if you want to call it that. I'd say something happened during shipping, but has not effected the laptop at all. Like I said very sturdy

Great laptop

I think this laptop is awesome. I have had several netbooks (ion, plain atom), as well as a zacate motherboard. I think this is just amazing for its price. I can do many things with this laptop ; The greatest part of this laptop is that it is totally...

HP Compaq Presario CQ57-225SA

Generally good all round package for the mney. No frills just the basics but a nice PC if you already have your own programmes to load on it

Half the spec of alternative 'lesser' brand names for no obvious reason other than the name
