Compaq Presario R3000Z (Iss. 21 2004)

The Compaq Presario R3000Z isn't the sleekest laptop, but its impressive performance and many connectivity options earn it an honorable mention.

Feature-rich. Good performer.

Heavy on the frame. Needs brighter screen.

The R3000Z packs a powerful punch and is the best mainstream gaming system here. There are better multimedia notebooks, but for gaming, the R3000z is the one.

You get the most for your money with the R3000Z, but if you're looking to go mobile, your best bet is to go with the HP Pavilion dv1000.

Compaq R3000Z Laptop Review

Powerful 64-bit CPU, Excellent display, Advanced 54G wireless, Good Speakers, Great price

Weight - not easy to carry (~9lbs+ travel weight) ; Slow Hard Drive - 4200 rpm (5400 rpm becomes mainstream) ; Somewhat noisy keyboard ; Out-of-date video card (generation was new in about 2002)

If there were no hardware problems, I would say that I feel completely satisfied with the R3000Z.

Compaq R3000Z Laptop Review (pics, specs)

HP & Compaq were the second manufacturers to join the 64-bit mobile world after Emachines introduced its Model M6805 to the market. So, there wasn't really much attention and applause when their products debuted. The Compaq R300Z is a desktop...
