Hard to Beat Deal Right Now

Great deal -- right now I think it's hard to beat without spending another $300+. Newegg is selling a refurb unit but as the previous reviewer stated you would be hardpressed to identify it as such. Mine came with a barely noticeable scuff mark along...

Battery life. Two to three hours at most. This is not a problem for me but it is shorter than other machines of similar spec out there

Not a good choice

Switchable graphics between the amd 7730m & intel hd 4000 are badly implemented and Dell has no fix.The only way i could tell that the 7730 is running 3d is by manually comparing framerates between hd 5650 on another laptop and this one.Cpu-z ,DX11 and...

Beautiful Dell full hdmi screen

Hard drive is the slowest 5400 speed i have seen in the past 5 years.Lid is somewhat flimsy.Windows 8 is horrible.Laptop is heavy without being sturdy. There are much better choices.Read other thoughts. An easy way to find out how buggy a laptop is ,is...

What's good is good and what's bad is really bad

What a piece of garbage.

For the price this seems like a pretty great buy. You get the memory, drive space and i7 performance as well as a solid screen and decent keyboard. When it's working you'll be pretty happy

The battery life is abysmal. I don't mean bad I mean suck, suckity, suck, suck, suck. I got in a 9:00 by 10:30 I was at 7%. That's just email, web and SSMS ; The wifi adapter can't lose connectivity and need to be reset fast enough. The phrase "The...

Broke 12 days after I could RMA it

Worst tech purchase I have made in a very long time. Buy this and prepare to be sad.

The stats look nice and when it's working it's fine

Well the wifi keeps disconnecting every 10 minutes. The video card errored out so that's kind of negative. One of the USB devices also failed so that's not really great and the battery only lasts a robust 90 minutes. So if you like having a desktop...

Decent computer, but not what I ordered

This computer is lightweight and sleek, the keys are sensitive and easy to push

The cons for this system are large. The box my system came in matched the description on newegg but the actual device was completely lacking the Radeon HD 8730 card that was supposed to be installed. Calling Dell about this issue did absolutely no...

Awesome laptop

This is a awesome laptop, I wiped the hd and installed OpenSuse 12.2. Everything works flawlessly. I left aside 200gb for a Windows 7 partition that Ill install sometime soon but Linux is the main os here ; The hardware is solid so far and everything...

Windows 8, it really sucks. I checked it out for a few minutes before I wiped the hd and its a huge step backwards from Windows 7 I think

Dell 15R

Nice screen size

I thought I was purchasing the touchscreen version of the Dell 15 R but I guess I was comparing a different laptop. However I feel the computer is pretty much bare bones with lots of advertising. I want to return it but don't want to go through the hassle

Works great with Ubuntu 12.10

Works out of the box with Ubuntu 12.10 86_64, including EFI install ; No proprietary WiFi drivers (uses iwlwifi driver) ; Open-source ATI driver is good enough, full 1080 resolution ; Standby works, brightness keys work, volume, backlit keyboard, etc ;...

Battery life could be better, it's around 3-4 hours ; Have to restart Xserver to switch between Intel and AMD graphics

Screen goes blank every 5 secs

Maybe I got a bad one but mine is unusuable.

Seemed like a good deal for the money

As the title suggests it goes blank constantly. I can't seem to find a solution
