Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Review

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 combines strong performance with a comfortable and colorful soft-touch design, but is that enough? For $600, you get a roomy 1TB hard drive, a 6th Generation Core i5 Processor and 8GB of RAM. However, a dull and low-res...

Good battery life; Strong performance; Comfy soft-touch deck; Plenty of storage

Bland, low-res display; Shallow keyboard

Dell's Inspiron 15 5000 is a strong performer with a solid and comfy soft-touch design, but its display doesn't wow.

Back to school on a budget: Choosing a cheap laptop to fit your needs

We reviewed eight mainstream budget laptops—because "cheap" doesn't have to mean "awful."

Above-average performance ; Case looks like it belongs on a much more expensive laptop

Chintzy screen ; Trackpad precision is subpar

We also examined what third-party software/bloatware came with each laptop. One way manufacturers push down costs on these low-end machines is by laying out deals with software companies: "We'll put your software on our machine so you get more...

Dell Inspiron 15 5000

Dell raises the bar for build quality and design in a budget laptop with the Inspiron 15 5000. This laptop ($449 as configured) sports an eye-catching, colorful chasssis that just feels more solid than the value-priced competition. The Dell has the...

Attractive, sturdy design; Fast performance; Loud speakers; Very little bloatware

Relatively dim display; Shallow keyboard

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 offers an alluring design, speedy performance and loud speakers for less than $500.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 (2014) Review

The Inspiron 15 5000 is a solid 15-inch laptop with a vivid touch screen, but it doesn't do enough to distinguish itself at this price.

Crisp and vivid display; Sleek and solid design; Good multi-tasking capability

Hot underside; Below-average battery life

The Inspiron 15 5000 is a solid 15-inch laptop with a vivid touch screen, but it doesn't do enough to distinguish itself at this price.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 review

A powerful all-rounder hampered by its keyboard and screen

Core i7 processor ; Dedicated AMD graphics ; Smart exterior design ; Decent build quality

Low screen resolution and quality ; Middling battery life ; Mediocre keyboard

Scores in depth The Inspiron range is a long-standing pillar of Dell's laptop line, so we're pleased to see a new model updated with the latest Intel hardware. It's a good-looking bit of kit, too, with a brushed metal finish across the lid.

Philips SHQ3000 review

Unless you're a fitness enthusiast, or just tend to get dirty quite often, the Philips SHQ3000 earphones are of limited appeal.

Despite the disappointing audio quality of the SHQ3000 earphones, it may be possible to overlook this flaw if you exercise regularly and find that regular earphones just can't keep up with you, especially if used as a supplementary pair of earphones...

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 (5668) review

Dell's Inspiron 15 5568 is one of the faster big-screen hybrids around, but it's far from perfect

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series review: One of the most attractive budget laptops on the market

I have to hand it to Dell: In the category of "$500 laptops," the veteran manufacturer came pretty close to nailing a well-rounded machine with few major compromises.

The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series is perfect for our review purposes in that it's almost perfectly average. It's ever so slightly better than the by-the-books 15-inch laptop you'd expect to see at a circa-$500 price point, with a marginally better case...

Great workhorse and all-rounder

My last Dell was the Inspiron 6400 from back in 2006. It lasted me a good while and buying this new AMD Dell was perfect for my needs. Windows 10 takes some getting use to especially how ease of use it is. Not my cup of tea but like most things in life...
