Dell Inspiron 1525-139B review: Dell Inspiron 1525-139B

Dell Inspiron 1525-139B

Includes HDMI output and touch-sensitive media control buttons.

Intel Pentium Dual-Core, rather than a Core 2 Duo CPU; unimpressive battery life.

The Dell Inspiron 1525-139B is a classic midsize, mainstream laptop, but this specific retail-only configuration has a wimpier battery than its predecessor.

Dell Inspiron 1525 review: Dell Inspiron 1525

Dell Inspiron 1525

Slimmer than Dell's 14-inch Inspiron; includes HDMI and touch-sensitive media control buttons; a bit cheaper than other 1525 configurations and has better battery life.

Slightly slower than other versions of the 1525 we've looked at; smaller hard drive.

The Dell Inspiron 1525-121B is the textbook example of a midsize, mainstream laptop. Switching to slower CPU knocks a little off the performance, but also takes $80 off the price and adds battery life, compared with Dell's more mainstream configurations.

Dell Inspiron 1525 review

Editors' note: August 8, 2008. We incorrectly identified the CPU as a Core 2 Duo T2390 for this laptop. It uses the older Pentium Dual-Core Mobile Processor T2390, which features 1MB of L2 cache and operates on a 533MHz frontside bus. Most Core 2 Duo...

Dell Inspiron 1525

The Dell Inspiron 1525, thinner and lighter than its predecessor, adds an HDMI port but cuts out the graphics options.

Slimmer design than its predecessor. HDMI port added. Great battery life with a standard battery. WWAN options available. Awesome typing experience. Affordable.

Dedicated graphics cards will not be offered.

Dell Inspiron 1525 Review

The old days of bulky, overweight Dell notebooks may be coming to a close in 2008. Today Dell announced their latest addition to the Inspiron family of notebooks, the 15.4-inch Inspiron 1525. We are happy to have a pre-production unit to review, and...

Much thinner and lighter than the Inspiron 1520 ; Reasonable battery life ; Nice keyboard, touchpad and media buttons ; Solid performance and features

Glossy LCD lid is a magnet for fingerprints ; No dedicated graphics option ; Limited display options

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 1525 is an excellent budget notebook with good looks and solid performance. This isn't a gaming machine, but the 1525 can handle everyday computing tasks with ease ... and looks good while doing them

Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop

The Dell Inspiron 1525 represents Dell's 15” widescreen offering for a middle of the road laptop. Without a lot of glitz and glamour (although it does come in different color choices), it appeals to your sensible side with its strong...

Beautiful 15.4” WXGA display when viewed directly; impressive wireless performance; easy to setup, good battery performance

Display suffers when viewed at an angle, weak graphics card, tinny sounding speakers, fingerprints show easily on the exterior

It is not easy for a laptop to stand out in such a crowded market - there are numerous other laptops available from Acer, Lenovo, HP and Toshiba that will provide very similar performance levels. At this price point, however, the Inspiron 1525 will...
