Review Dell Inspiron 1720 Notebook

Silent cry for performance... Finally, it's available! After supp ...

Good looking case; Very stable and flexural rigid case; Comfortable keyboard with numerical pad; WUXGA display also available; Passable performance; Very low noise emissions; Low surface temperatures; Very good battery runtime

Possible see-saw after adapting the display's position; Digital picture/sound outs not available; Touchpad sometimes intractable; Reflecting display, moderate measured values

Of course this results in low noise emissions, because the fan does not need to work too hard, and also in low surface temperatures

Dell Inspiron 1720

Striking a good balance between style, performance, and battery life, the Dell Inspiron 1720 is an impressive desktop replacement.

Modern design with multiple color options ; Useful DataSafe backup utility ; Long battery life ; Huge hard drive

No HDMI port for optional Blu-ray drive ; Heavy

Dell Inspiron 1720 Review

Gone are the white bumpers of old, replaced with a solid shimmering silver paint, giving the body of the Dell 1720 a much cleaner and refined look. The body still allows some user configuration with its custom top cover paint options, including jet...

Very tough structure and underbody ; Strong gaming performance with the 8600M GT ; Excellent battery life for a 17" notebook ; Bright and Vivid LCD with excellent viewing angles

Paint defects out of the box ; HD Bay cover has some play, making loud clacking noises ; No plaid paint option ... they offer every other color after all

Under normal web browsing use the 9-cell battery performed quite well, pushing out 3 hours and 12 minutes of life before going into hibernation mode at two percent. Screen brightness was two notches below max, or about 80 percent, and other items were...

Dell Inspiron 1720 Notebook - Customizable

A powerful laptop does not have to be a boring laptop. Take Dell's Inspiron 1720, a robust system that also happens to be available in seven colors besides black. The 1720 is a heavyish 17-inch notebook, but its multimedia design is outstanding.

Dual hard drives option ; Fast 3D gaming

Pricey

Perfect for gadget lovers, this splashily designed unit offers excellent entertainment options and rich-sounding speakers.

Dell Inspiron 1720

The 1720 retains its 17-inch widescreen, which is absolutely gorgeous. The optional 1,920-by-1,200 screen (which is what my review unit came with) is ideal for gamers and HD enthusiasts—but typical users may be better off going with the lower...

Very good performance scores. 1,920-by-1,200 resolution option. Dual hard drive option for capacities up to 500GB. Mobile broadband from either Cingular, Sprint, or Verizon. Choice of eight colors

Blu-ray drive option without an HDMI or DVI-D port. Heavier than the Dell Inspiron E1705 (Vista)

An integrated cellular modem, cavernous hard drives, and very good performance numbers more than compensate for a couple of feature exclusions, making the Inspiron 1720 one of the best deals in the desktop-replacement market.

Dell Inspiron 1720 Notebook - Customizable

Love this Dell bought it three years ago and with an online coupon saving over $500 dollars bring's the total to only $1200 dollars with a 320 hard drive, 8600gt, 1950x1200 lcd, blu-ray and 4 gigs of ram. Made this purchase a no brain er!!!!

Fast, easy to use, has a separate key pad, 1950 x 1200 resolution, and a decent 8600gt graphics card. Makes this computer hold up over time, also has a blu-ray drive for movies on the go

Battery life isn't the best but with a integrated graphics card its to be expected. Also there is no HDMI only VGA output which is its biggest flaw. Other then that its smoking hot

Most robust computer

This is, quite simply, the best laptop I've ever owned. It's been with me for five years - that's right, I got it brand new in September 2007, and I never needed a replacement since. Yes, I've had other laptops. Plus over 300 laptops that went through...

got rid of vista, have a sweet laptop!

Bought this as a replacement for a 5150. Replaced the hated Vista with Win7. Really love the display and the rugged keyboard.
