Dell Inspiron i1764-7629OBK

With all the netbooks flooding the market these days, you could be forgiven for thinking that computer makers aren't selling big-screen multimedia notebooks any more. The truth is that they are, and you'll find a lot of value in this sector of the...

Clean design. Excellent keyboard. Bright 17.3-inch LCD. Outstanding battery life. Good overall performance

Weak speakers. Intelligent battery foot

The Dell Inspiron i1764-7629OBK multimedia laptop is a great choice for multitasking general-purpose users and photo and video editors.

Dell Inspiron 1764-5955IBU

There's life in colossal media centers after all, as consumers aren't ready to give up precious screen real estate, even as they are ready to toss away their clunky desktops. The Dell Inspiron 1764-5595IBU has all the components that'll ease your...

Core i5 processor is speedy. Great for bargain hunters. Numeric keypad included. Big screen. Excellent performance scores

Small battery means mediocre battery life. No discrete graphics

With its Core i5 processor and ample screen real estate, the Dell Inspiron 1764-5595IBU offers an easy transition from desktop to laptop, but gamers will need a better graphics card.

Dell Inspiron 1764 review

Dell's 17.3in 1764 is the first laptop we've seen to use Intel's new mobile Core i5 processor. The 2.26GHz Core i5-430M might only seem a little bit quicker than the 2.13GHz Core i3-330M processors commonly used in laptops at this price, but it's got a...

A powerful Core i5 processor and a large, bright screen make this an attractive laptop, but you can get a games-capable laptop for a similar price.

Is Dell computer a good buy?

I bought this computer mainly due to good experience with Dell Latitude E6510. Inspiron i1764 has disappointed me so far. I just read the Product Review Guidelines. It has too many restrictions when writing a review for this product. I got the...

Have not seen any yet

May be cheaply built. Booting seems slow for this computer with I5 processor. Palm rest made with the material that shows finger marks

Bad qualitycontrol

I bought one of these at Best Buy when my last laptop died and I needed a replacement in a day. It was a new model, which may have had something to with problems, but they continue.

Pretty fast, big screen

Breaks a lot. Mobo died within a few weeks. Replaced under warranty. Then, when updating BIOS that Dell had posted, it froze up and had to be sent back again. That BIOS version later dissappeared from the Dell site. Later I noticed one of the usb...

We got a good deal on it. Performance was fine. The touchpad sucks no more than other laptop touchpads

The hinges that hold the screen onto the keyboard broke about three months after we got it. We don't dare close the thing; the last time we tried it snapped one of the loose dangly wires sticking out. Would Not Purchase Again

Good bang for buck

Overall a good machine, I don't regret buying it.

It was considerably cheaper than anywhere else at the time I bought it ($549.99)

Battery life is nothing to write home about, one charge lasts about 1.5-2 hours. No CAPS light on key or elsewhere, only way to tell status is by checking output
