The Dell Inspiron e1405, a recently released portable notebook that includes the relatively new Intel Core Duo CPU, seems designed for those who value a combination of significant processing power and portability but don't want to spend a lot of money...

Dell Inspiron 640M notebook

Notebook Dell's Inspiron 640M is a mid-priced, midsized notebook aimed at business users, yet offering enough flashy multimedia tomfoolery to please just about anyone

It offers a choice of two display types, both are 14.1 inches and in widescreen aspect ratio, but shoppers can choose between the cheaper WXGA version with 1,280 x 800 resolution or the slightly sharper WXGA+ version sporting 1,440 x 900 resolution and...

Dell Inspiron 640m : Dell Inspiron 640m laptop

This is a very powerful notebook with a reasonable sized screen, put the two together and the weight is not gigantic. Add the ability to work in Media Centre mode and it should suit most.

The biggest task with machines is to match the sent configuration with what is available on their site. I was sent a Intel 2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and Windows Media Centre Edition of the laptop. The hard disc was shown as 93GB and I assume...

Dell - Inspiron 640m

Dell has been refreshing and updating its Inspiron line of laptops, replacing old models with new ones incorporating the latest technologies. Looking stylish in its white and silver finish, the Inspiron 640m is the replacement for ...

It's a shame that Dell only opted for integrated graphics on the Inspiron 640m, but in spite of that, it is a well performing laptop with exceptional battery life if you opt for the higher capacity battery.

Excellent

I am no computer wiz but this laptop has been great for the past 3 years. The only problem I have with it is the battery, it only lasts for half an hour so I have the power plugged in all the time when I use it. One of the buttons has come loose on the...

Keyboard is easy to type with, in built wi-fi, Dell's customer service support, media software is easily accessable, a user friendly laptop.

Short battery life(I am finding the battery only lasts for half an hour) one of the keys has come loose.

Good

I have had this laptop for two years now and I bought it with two batteries and when new they will give you well over three hours use, now I am down to 1.5 hours before it needs a charge. Good value and a reliable machine. I use it daily and it hasn't...

I am currently righting this review on the dell inspiron 640m, the keyboard is nice and responsive and there is not problems like hitting adjacent keys when it type. The high resolution wide screen is very crisp and clear, the 100GB hard disk is fast...

the main thing that bothers me when using this laptop is that the base tends to get a bit warm so not very comfortable resting it on your lap for a long time.

Good

I got mine with a 5400RPM 80 gigabyte hard drive from Dell when I bought it and after a while I decided to upgrade to the 120 gigabyte 7200RPM drive. This made a huge difference in performance. The screen I ordered with it was too high of a resolution...

Long battery life with 9cell battery. Light weight. Good keyboard. Easy access media buttons. Vibrant screen

I bought one with the higher resolution screen, it's hard to read the text. 5400 rpm hard drive slows down the system a lot
