Dell Inspiron 9400 with Core 2 Duo and Nvidia 7900 GS Review

I initially purchased the notebook over the phone with a representative from Dell Canada, but the order was cancelled, more on that later. I then went to the actual Dell Direct Kiosk and ordered it from there

Cheap, great value ; Great performance due to a blazing fast processor and an extremely powerful GPU ; 6 USB ports ; Great keyboard ; Fantastic Screen ; Great build

Gets pretty hot ; Loud fans ; Lack of PCMIA slot ; No numberpad ; Pretty bulky and heavy

Here is my biggest complaint about Dell, their customer support. I ordered my laptop on September 19 and it didn't arrive until October 10, 20 days later. During that time, my order got cancelled and I had to reorder it. I initially ordered on the...

Review Dell Inspiron 9400

XPS is not the only notebook by Dell, which is excellent, when us ...

Solid, rigid case, good interface equipment and positioning, user-friendly input devices, sharp and bright display with excellent contrast relation, very good performance data in games and application sectors, low temperatures and noise emissions,...

smaller deficiencies of workmanship, brightness distribution below average

The application benchmark PCMark 2005 uncovered a small surprise. The Core 2 Duo CPU at 2,0 GHz clearly wins against a T7600 CPU with 2,33 GHz of Alb R20. The reason should be the clearly weaker video card of R20, because the video card has a small...

Graphics, Not for gaming, Looks

Although Dell's build quality is once again a winner, the Inspiron 9400 is lacking in other areas, mainly looks and graphics.

Dell Inspiron 9400 review

A powerful dual-core laptop, but multimedia is a mixed bag

17in screen ; Performance ; Powerful dual core laptop ; Battery life

Weight ; Multimedia ability

There are more powerful laptops with better multimedia support but the Dell offers outstanding usability and connectivity

PC Plus review: Dell Inspiron 9400

For a touch of both worlds, and on a tightly-reigned budget, the Inspiron represents a well-rounded dual-core multimedia system.

Dell Inspiron 9400

The design of the Inspiron 9400 is almost exactly the same as the 9200 and 9300, so the chassis is starting to look a bit dated. It's a sturdy desktop replacement, but compared with the styling of the Inspiron XPS, it's a bit naff.

The build quality of the Dell is beyond reproach, but it isn't exactly a looker and there are plenty of better deals available.
