Dell Inspiron 14z review

The slimmed-down 14z brings a much-needed makeover for the Inspiron line without skimping on performance.

Review: Dell Inspiron 14z

Dell's Inspiron gets a big makeover for 2012, evolving (at last) into a sleek and modern-looking laptop while maintaining a very low price.

Great combination of portability, performance, and value. Decent battery life: About 4 hours with DVD playback

Input problems all around, from tiny keyboard to jittery touchpad. Cheap port covers on left side just get in the way. Dim screen, with uninspiring 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. Could use another couple of USB ports. Difficulty with switchable graphics...

Dell Inspiron 14z Ultrabook: An Ultrabook in Name Only, With an Optical Drive

Intel's original Ultrabook concept referred to ultraportable, ultraslim Windows laptops with a premium design and strict constraints on thickness and specs. But these days, vendors seem to label every semislim ultraportable they sell as an Ultrabook,...

Good performance for Ultrabook category ; Good 3D performance

Heavy, unattractive design ; Very difficult-to-use keyboard

The Dell Inspiron 14z sacrifices style and hardware integrity for performance.

Dell Inspiron 14z (i14z-6677DBK)

The Dell Inspiron 14z (i14z-6677DBK) mainstream laptop has a Core i5 processor, big hard drive, and top-flight features like WiDi 2.0 and USB 3.0.

Intel Core i5 processor. Big 750GB hard drive. WiDi 2.0 offers wireless streaming. Superb battery life. Two USB 3.0 ports.

Stubborn mouse buttons. Irritating port covers.

Dell Inspiron 14z review: Dell Inspiron 14z

Dell Inspiron 14z

A clean, slim design, a backlit keyboard, very good battery life, strong performance, and an affordable price make the ; more useful than most thinned-down laptops.

Limited upgrade options and no dedicated graphics might turn off some who need more flexibility, and flip-down port doors are a minor annoyance.

The Dell Inspiron 14z thins down the bulky look of the average Inspiron laptop while sacrificing none of the performance or battery life, adding up to an affordable mainstream notebook that's an excellent late consideration for back-to-school shopping.

Dell Inspiron 14z

Dell's latest CULV laptop, the Inspiron 14z, is mediocre considering that its rivals are pushing the envelope and selling for less.

Very good battery life. Excellent keyboard. Soft mouse buttons.

Aging design. Sub-par performance scores. Expensive for a plain configuration. Adding a Red hue shouldn't be a $40 option.

Dell Inspiron 14z Laptop Review

Great battery life ; Light and easy to use

So-so performance ; Overly-glossy screen

The Inspiron 1470 is aimed squarely at students, with a stylish look and great battery life, but the overly-polished screen is hard to see.

Dell Inspiron 14z (Core i5)

It weighs 4.5 pounds, which is similar to the Gateway ID47H02u (4.4 pounds), and lighter than the Asus U46E-BAL5 (4.9 pounds) and Samsung QX411-W01 (5.1 pounds).

Powerful standard-voltage Core i5 CPU. Excellent battery life. Two USB 3.0 ports. Reasonably priced. Aluminum top is a luxury for an entry-level series. Fabulous backlit keyboard

Stiff mouse buttons. Port covers are unnecessary

Aside from a few minor annoyances, the Dell Inspiron 14z (Core i5) is a stylish, powerful, and battery-efficient mainstream laptop.

Review Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z) Notebook

Extraordinary. The Inspiron 14z has an unconventional design along with a lot of interesting features. Whether or not this 14 inch notebook with a 13" format powered by an Intel Core i5 2430M could be a success, can be discovered in this review.

Includes two USB 3.0 ports and a Mini DisplayPort, Interfaces located at the back, Pleasant typing feel, Optional backlit keyboard, Good speakers, Low power consumption and long battery life, The large selection of interfaces, the good keyboard, and...

Touchpad buttons are stiff, Reflective and dark display, Very warm with a high processing load, A non-reflective display with more brightness, and good touchpad buttons

Dell Inspiron 14z Review

Dell spent most of 2009 making their laptops as thin and light as possible. Dell even went as far as adding a "z" to the names of the thinnest and lightest notebooks that offer the best battery life in each category. To that end, the Inspiron 14z...
