Dell Inspiron M101z Notebook - Performs Well But, Worth Your Money?

Of late, we've been seeing quite a few netbooks and at first glance, it looks like the Dell's M101z also falls in the same category. However, Dell claims it to be the size of the netbook, with the performance of a notebook. The M101z is basically aimed...

The M101z is priced at Rs. 29,900, which is probably one of the cheapest price brackets for a notebook. However, you have better performing notebooks like the IdeaPad Z570 which can score way better in performance and will only cost you a few thousands...

Review Dell Inspiron M101z Subnotebook

The Lady in Red. From Dell comes the small 11.6" AMD subnotebook

Good Performance (Office); Comfortable Keyboard; Modern Design; HDMI-Output; Adequate Battery Life; Speaker System

Screen Glare; Few Accessories Included; Heat and Noise; Case Prone to Scratches

The smaller Acer Aspire One 521 netbook, the up-to-par Acer Aspire 1551 subnotebook, the Acer Aspire One 721 subnotebook with an 11.6" screen and our test model's big brother with a 13" screen (Dell Inspiron M301z). A bit more expensive but with a...

Dell Inspiron M101z

'le processeur double c\x9cur dans un portable 11 pouces, le clavier et le pav\xe9 tactile, plus rapide que les netbooks de taille identique'

'le prix des composants optionnels, les performances graphiques limit\xe9es, l\x92autonomie tout juste moyenne'

"Ce nouveau mod\xe8le de la gamme Mini, l'Inspiron M101z, est un 11 pouces avec un AMD double c\x9cur qui bat les netbooks en termes de performances et de prix."

Dell Inspiron M101z

The $580 Dell Inspiron M101z is just big enough for me to use comfortably (my gigantic hands are like bear paws); and yet at 11.5 by 8.1 by 1.4 inches, it's small enough to slip into most bags.

Great keyboard and touchpad ; Powerful for its class

Somewhat pricey for its size ; Rather short battery life

Worth the cost if you want a small machine with a great keyboard.

Dell Inspiron M101z

The dividing line between Netbooks and laptops has long been a fuzzy one, as Intel's Atom CPUs have migrated into 11-inch and even larger systems, while other 10- and 11-inch models have added alternative CPUs, graphics hardware, and high-resolution...

Dual-core processor in an 11-inch laptop; good keyboard and touch pad; much faster than similar-size Netbooks

Upgraded components aren't cheap; limited graphics; merely average battery life

Dell's latest take on the Mini line is a dual-core AMD-powered 11-inch system that leaves Netbooks in the dust in terms of both power and price.

Dell Inspiron M101z review

We've been having a hard time figuring out what to call the recent influx of 11.6-inch laptops -- you know, the ones which are slightly larger and more

Solidly built ; Great keyboard, touchpad and speakers ; Fast performance, graphics

Thicker than other 11.6-inch laptops ; Weak battery life ; Review unit covered in pink

Dell Inspiron M101z

This good-looking 11.6-inch ultraportable delivers a comfy keyboard, snappy performance, and strong sound quality for the money.

These days the market certainly isn't lacking AMD-powered ultraportables, but the Dell Inspiron M101z is among the best models we've tested. It has a cooler look than the ThinkPad X100e while offering better performance and slightly longer battery...

Dell Inspiron M101z

The Dell M101z's full-size, chiclet-style keyboard ranks among some of best in the 11-inch form factor. The keys are widely spaced apart, so that they don't feel as cramped as those found in the Alienware M11x (Core i7). The Lenovo X100e has a slightly...

Very nice keyboard. Excellent navigating components. Fast hard drive. Lightweight. HDMI included. Plays back 1080p HD clips beautifully. Very good speakers for a little laptop

Performance finished in the bottom. Battery life is not as impressive as its CULV counterparts

Though its size is the same as that of a netbook, the Dell Inspiron M101z is more powerful, though it falls short against its CULV counterparts.

Dell Inspiron M101z Review – Laptop Power in a Netbook’s Frame

The question of whether the M101z is really a netbook or laptop is certainly open. Its size, price and performance makes it difficult to categorize. Given the uncertainty, I will bow to Dell's marketing department – they've made the M101z a part of the...

Dell Inspiron M101z Laptop Review

There are alternatives to the Atom platform and one of the major competitors is AMD's Athlon 2 Neo range. Combined with a DirectX 10.1 GPU it forms a well-balanced platform, one which Dell has chosen to base their latest ultra-portable system on. For...

A well balanced system which will give the majority of consumers all the power and flexibility they need while on the move.
