Review Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook

Stay in contact. Since the launch of the Eee PC from Asus, the ru

Compact, robust housing; Acceptable interface configuration; Adequate keyboard; Bright, energy saving LED display; Satisfactory performance for standard use; Practical, noiseless operation; Good battery time

Weak display cover; Some keys extremely small; Only limited possible outdoor use because of the display glare; Slow writing rate of the SSD; High temperatures possible on the case

While the display offers very good brightness with good illumination, the mirrored glare-type display is anything but optimal for outdoor use. Especially in brightly lit areas, one has to put up with bothersome reflections and mirroring on the display.

Inspiron Mini 9

At first glance, the Inspiron Mini 9, Dell's entry into the mini-notebook category, looks like what you might get if you left a notebook from Dell's full-size Studio line of laptops in the dryer too long. But the sub-$500 Mini 9 carries a 1.6-GHz Intel...

Keyboard is easy to use Handy applications included

Display can be hard to see

Dell has crafted a solid mini-laptop that's good for kids and has plenty to offer anyone looking for an on-the-go system. The Inspiron Mini 9 isn't perfect, but it does offer a terrific design and a good price. I would have a tough time choosing this...

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (Linux)

Dell barges into the netbook market with its sleek, configurable, and solid performing Inspiron Mini 9, but it's not without flaws.

Sleek, simple Linux OS, Compact, sturdy design, Decent battery life, Configurable online

Awkward keyboard, Solid state storage only, Extended battery not yet available

The Inspiron Mini 9 is stocked with the typical netbook ports, featuring three USB 2.0, VGA, and Ethernet, as well as a headphone and a microphone jack. It also has a 4-in-1 memory card reader. Alas, you won't find an ExpressCard slot, but the Inspiron...

Dell Inspiron Mini 9

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 doesn't advance the development of UMPCs, but it does give you a solid system and a great price.

Runs the Intel Atom platform. Weighs only 2.3 pounds. Very responsive mouse buttons. Well-priced with eValue code

Keyboard is too small. Needs a bigger battery option. Limited to SSD hard drive option

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Review

Last year, the world of budget notebooks was turned on its head with the introduction of the ASUS Eee PC: A 2-pound laptop with a 7-inch screen and a starting price below $300. Prior to 2008, "budget notebooks" were bulky, overweight 15-inch laptops...

Small and light ; Easy to use ; Very well built and durable ; Responsive Synaptics touchpad ; Easy to upgrade RAM, SSD, and wireless cards ; No noisy cooling fan ; Low price for an ultraportable

Gets a little hot ; Glossy plastic lid is a magnet for fingerprints ; No F11 or F12 keys, other function keys in strange location ; 4-cell battery is nice, 6-cell battery would be better

Ultimately, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is a fabulous netbook that is sure to end up on many Christmas lists this year ... but it's only "your new best friend" if you're willing to overlook a few flaws

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 | Netbook Obsidian Black

Dell has also removed the function keys F1 through F10, and the actions they perform are now located on the home key row. F11 and F12 have been left off which makes screen changing impossible, but probably not as much of a priority in a netbook.

No internal fan8.9 inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolutionEasy to upgrade3 hrs 38 minute battery life at normal usage

Small keyboard causes need for finger gymnastics

If you don't require all the tools and performance that a full functioned

Review of Dell Inspiron Mini 9

Ever since Asus created netbooks, every company has been scrambling into the market with their own piece. The Inspiron Mini 9 netbook marks Dell's entry to the world of netbooks. It sports an 8.9-inch screen and features Windows XP as …

For its price, we consider the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 a good catch. It is a netbook that is easy to carry along as a travel companion. There are many netbooks around like the Mini 9 but with this one, the battery could have been better, the screen could...

The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Review

Small form factor ; Snappy & capable ; LCD screen scales well for most web pages ; Upgradable RAM, SSD, Wifi, WWAN ; Extremely portable ; Plenty of USB ports for external storage ; Perfect screen size for movies

Gets a little too warm at times ; Limited hard drive space ; If you do not order the ATT WWAN card, you can never install one because the WWAN port is not installed from the factory ; No 802.11n WiFi option ; Windows in the operating system do not...

After having the Mini 9 for a few weeks I can honestly say that the Mini 9 is a total winner. As I mentioned above, its few and minor short comings are so minor I would not even consider them short comings, just minor flaws that Dell could easily fix...
