Review Dell Studio 1558 (HD4570) Notebook

Multimedia Talent? Intel's Core 2 Duo predecessor, Core i5, start

Good display quality; Almost perfect workmanship; Surface aren't prone to smudge; Good work / multimedia and application performance; Quite circumferential connectivity; Good battery life; Keyboard light

Average gaming performance; Wrist-rest gets quite warm; Fairly loud fan noise under load; DVD drive very loud at data access; Keyboard yields; Display very instable; Adapter gets extremely hot

Comparable notebooks of other manufacturers with a Core i3/i5 and a Radeon HD 4000/5000 would for instance be: Acer's Aspire 5740G (i5-430M/20M + HD 4570/5470/5650) or Packard Bell's TJ75 (i3-330M/i5-430M + HD 5470/5650).

Review Dell Studio 1558 Notebook

I just love reunions. Already in its nth edition, Dell releases t

Extensive interface equipment; Good input devices; Good workmanship quality; Excellent performance of the Intel Core i5 processor; Low energy consumption in office use; Good battery life

Potentially unfavourable arrangement of interfaces; Hot power block; High system noise under load

Considering the equipment at hand, high-value office and multimedia notebooks. In light of the CPU, a Core i7 should be built-in in order to keep up here.

Dell S1558-5691MSL

Editors' note: This review is part of our back-to-school 2010 retail desktop and laptop review roundup, which covers specific fixed configurations of popular systems found in retail stores.

Excellent port assortment; backlit keyboard; full Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010, Webroot antivirus software included

Value of included software is questionable; no discrete media controls or quick-launch keys

The Dell Studio s1558-5691MSL offers a little more for your money than competing laptops, though it's a bit bulky and short on battery life for a day in a backpack.

Dell Studio 15 (1558) Review - A Review of the Dell Studio 15 (1558)

Very comfortable keyboard, Long battery life, Long warranty, Excellent high-resolution webcam, Fingerprint-resistant finish

Non-black lids cost more money, Design a bit bulky

Even after extended use, the Studio 15 ran at pretty normal temperatures. For instance, after playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, we observed temperatures of 91 degrees on the touchpad, 90 degrees at the center of the keyboard, and 97...

Dell Studio 15 (1558) review

The design of the 15.6-inch Dell Studio 1558 doesn't exactly set the heart racing, but it's a well-built machine and has good performance, making it an ideal family laptop.

Excellent screen ; Fast performance ; Spacious, responsive keyboard ; Available in a range of colours and lid patterns

Boring design ; Poor speakers

On the whole, the Studio 1558 is a good all-rounder that offers an impressive screen and a processor with plenty of poke, for a sensible price. Its design, despite the range of colours and patterns on offer, is not quite as flash as some of the latest...

Dell Studio 1558 review

The decent battery life, dual-band wireless adaptor and high-quality screen make this a great laptop, but there are better deals out there.

Dell Studio 1558

If you're looking for a notebook that does the job without mess or fuss, Dell's Studio 1558 should be right up your alley.

In short the Dell Studio 1558 does not disappoint. It's very decent laptop that does not pretend to be anything else than a journeyman.

Dell Studio 1558 review

Nice design and good build, but it lags behind the improved competition and uncertainties remain over cooling issues.

Elsewhere, Dell has added all the bells and whistles. The standard 802.11g wireless networking gets upgraded to 802.11n at a reasonable £9 premium, while Bluetooth costs an altogether more considerable £26. Ports and connectors, meanwhile, are...

Dell Studio 1558

I think, perhaps, this model has suffered in the reviews by inclusion of the expensive full HD screen on an otherwise low-end laptop. Thanks to the flexibility on the Dell website, I was able to specify a higher spec model with almost everything I...

The silent breakdown.

Good customer support, bad laptop, and don't by this, and if you do, definitely don't go for the xps 16 either. Updated on Nov 13, 2010

Like the design and the good deal I got on it

Hard Drive became corrupted after three months, got that replaced. Now I have a technician who will pop by sometime and take a look at what is wrong with the computer. Studio laptops have terrible quality when compared to my old HP Pavilion dv6000
