Review Dell Vostro 3700 (i7-720QM, GT 330M) Notebook

Vostro New ? the Second. New hardware, subtle improvements of the ...

Very good application performance ; Good graphic performance ; Well equipped with interfaces incl. eSATA and HDMI ; Matt display screen with good illumination

Impractical arrangement of interfaces for left-handers ; No independent docking port (only USB solution) ; Gets very warm under load

Reasonably priced entry-level notebooks in the 17" class with modern hardware, for example HP's Probooks

Expert Review

With its big screen and even bigger performance, the Dell Vostro 3700 helps small-business buyers kick the desktop-PC habit. It isn't perfect, but it delivers a lot of value.

Excellent performance, Nvidia GPU, Dedicated support hotline, Lots of features for the price

No Blu-ray or embedded WWAN options, Weak speakers, Bland design

Dell Vostro 3700 notebook

A 17.3in desktop replacement notebook with plenty of features and an affordable price

Strong performance overall, 7200rpm hard drive, easily upgradeable, eSATA, HDMI, competitive weight and battery life for its size

No backlit keyboard, only 3GB RAM usable under 32-bit Windows 7, arrow keys too small, touchpad software customisation, fingerprint reader fickle in testing

The Vostro 3700 is the 17.3in model in Dell's Vostro 3000 series, and it's the first Dell business notebook to include Intel's Core i5 CPUs. It's a fast desktop replacement notebook that's perfect for office work, yet it's also capable of undertaking...

Consumer review by: Chui Tey (productreview.com.au)

Avoid. There a some large variances in build quality.

My buddy and I have the same machine. Mine constantly overheats while his works fine, causing emergency shutdowns and random lock up. Even when idling, the temperature sits at 80 C, and no one at Dell can give me a straight answer what is the likely...

Large screen, good resolution

Heat problems. My fingers are hot just from typing.
