Dell Vostro V131 Notebook Review

The Vostro series by Dell has been going strong, for quite a while now, enticing both seasoned business professionals as well as newcomers. Dell have recently launched their Vostro V131 model, which looks eerily similar to the Vostro V3350, we reviewed...

The Vostro V131 is priced at Rs. 43,990 (MOP). It follows the trend of the other expensively priced Vostros, but does fall a little short in terms of build. With the specs, it compares straight to the Lenovo G570, we reviewed earlier. However, with the...

Evolution. Dell launched a slim and portable line in its entry-level business range with the Vostro V130. It's also supposed to convince in terms of design. Powerful Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs follow the first attempts with ULV processors. A few...

Solid, attractive case; Illuminated keyboard; Very good application performance; Good battery life; Extensive communication equipment

Display hinge's low force; Background noise always present; Moderate brightness

A really trouble-free outdoor suitable display with at least 250 cd/m2. The optionally available SSD in our test device

Dell Vostro V131 Review: A Good, Cheap Business Laptop

The 13.3-inch Dell Vostro V131 is a solid small-to-medium business notebook with exceptional battery life, a backlit keyboard, and plenty of power to handle any office work. Check out our full review to find out if this is the right upgrade for your...

Good performance ; Superb battery life (9 hours) ; Two USB 3.0 ports ; 15 months of Trend Micro security included ; Comfortable backlit keyboard

Lid bends easily ; Display has a low contrast ratio ; Poorly designed bottom panel

Dell Vostro V131

The 13.3-inch Dell Vostro V131 offers small-business users long battery life, a fingerprint reader, and a stylish design.

Sleek red aluminum chassis ; Fingerprint reader ; Good battery life ; Strong performance ; Comfortable backlit keyboard

Mediocre graphics performance ; Speakers could be better

The $889 Dell Vostro V131 is one of the better small business notebooks you can buy. The machine retains the incredibly attractive aluminum chassis of its predecessor and improves upon it with a comfy backlit keyboard; a longer-lasting,...

Dell Vostro V131

Among consumers, there's still only one easily recognized name in business laptops, and that's ThinkPad. Somewhere far behind is HP's ProBook and EliteBook lines and then, far in the distance, on the horizon of perception, you have…Dell.

Great connectivity ; Excellent performance ; Long battery life ; Attractive and slim design ; Competitive price

Runs warm ; Poor key feel ; Average display

Though allegedly designed for small business, the Vostro V131 is a clear winner for anyone who is in the market for a small, powerful laptop with excellent battery endurance.

Dell Vostro V131

Most companies strive to create distinctions between their small-business and consumer laptop lines, sometimes to the point of creating whole new designs that aren't available otherwise. Most of these business laptops aren't of much interest to the...

Offering excellent battery life and processing power in a compact, sturdy design, the Dell Vostro V131 improves on last year's version while keeping a clean look.

Other 13-inch laptops are even thinner and lighter; the matte screen and mono speaker are weak for a laptop this size.

The 2011 Dell Vostro V131 succeeds at being an affordable and powerful update to the 13-inch small-business laptop, adding much-needed battery life and processing boosts. At its lower-priced configurations, it's worth a look for budget shoppers.

Dell Vostro V131

The 13.3-inch widescreen is smaller than the 14-inch one found in the Dell E6420, and matches that of the Lenovo X1, HP 5330M, and Dell 3350. Its 1,366-by-768 resolution is boilerplate, although that's the case with most small business laptops. You'll...

Powerful standard-voltage Core i5 CPU. Excellent battery life. Excellent keyboard. Two USB 3.0 ports. Fast spinning hard drive

Subpar gaming scores from integrated graphics. No backlit keyboard

Thanks to an Intel Core i5 processor and 8-hour battery, the Dell Vostro V131 small-business laptop has most of the features, power, and battery life of its enterprise-oriented counterparts, yet it won't cost you nearly as much.

Dell Vostro V131

Is Dell reading our reviews and taking our critiques to heart? We hope so. As tech journalists, when we write something about a product that spurs improvements and effects positive change for consumers, it's a jolt of career caffeine.

Battery is big and removable ; Competitive Core i5 performance ; Thin and light for a 13.3-inch laptop ; Comfortable backlit keyboard ; Mostly aluminum chassis

Subpar Webcam ; Display hinges are too loose

The 13.3-inch Dell Vostro V131 delivers enough features and horsepower to act as your primary—yet still very portable—business PC.

Best budget business laptop

Business users looking to take a light, ergonomic laptop with a long battery life on the road should consider the 13.3-inch Dell Vostro v131, experts say. Although the base configuration sports an Intel Celeron CPU and starts out at $500, most...

Thin and light, second-generation Intel Core processor, good battery life, excellent performance, lots of business and connectivity extras

Poor speakers, not good for gaming, no optical drive, average display
