Dell XPS 15 9550 (Core i7, FHD) Notebook Review

Finally on its feet. After a series of software issues, we decided to check up once again on a different SKU of the XPS 15 to see if those problematic areas have been patched up. The results are outstanding.

small and lightweight, high quality FHD panel; 98 percent sRGB coverage, impressive runtimes, high CPU and GPU performance; no major throttling issues, NVMe M.2 support, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen. 2 with Thunderbolt 3

only a single storage bay, no NumPad, screen flickering at low brightness settings, non-removable battery, few ports

Though it launched with some headache-inducing issues, the XPS 15 2016 refresh is an improvement over the outgoing design in almost every way, especially in terms of graphics, size, and weight. Battery life is incredible with our 84 Wh test unit and...

Dell XPS 15 9550 (i7, 512GB, UHD) InfinityEdge Notebook Review

Bug fixes, workarounds and BIOS updates: Dell's XPS 15 does not have a good start. How is the bigger i7/UHD version handling the drawbacks that we experienced with the i5/FHD model? One reader speaks about a “completely different notebook.” Do we share...

high-quality, sturdy chassis, compact dimensions considering the screen size, simple maintenance via bottom cover, excellent color accuracy after calibration, high. constant brightness without sensor, contrast and viewing angles, steady fan control,...

hectic bug fixes after the launch, mediocre color accuracy ex-works, battery runtime 84-Wh below expectations, high power consumption, quality of the webcam, surfaces attract dirt

One bug after another? After the entry-level XPS 15 (FHD/i5/hybrid) could not meet the high expectations, we were careful with the more expensive and better-equipped XPS 15 with a UHD panel, NVMe-SSD and Core i7. Who wants to spend more than 2,000...

Dell XPS 15 2016 (9550) InfinityEdge Notebook Review

High-end without high-end performance. We review the new XPS 15 from Dell and have a look at the performance of the 45-Watt Core i5. Can the latter use its full potential in the flat chassis? Throttling is, fortunately, not the answer – at least not on...

high-quality, sturdy chassis, compact dimensions considering the screen size, simple maintenance via bottom cover, excellent color accuracy after calibration, high, constant brightness without sensor, contrast and viewing angles, steady fan control,...

visible display flickering at the lowest brightness level, mediocre color accuracy ex-works, CPU performance cannot be utilized completely, CPU throttling on battery power, massive throttling when you stress CPU and GPU, faulty fan control after...

You might be disappointed if you expected high-end performance from the XPS 15 at any time and in every situation. The XPS 15 not only reduces the CPU clock to 1.6 GHz on battery power, but it also acts sluggish, which will certainly not please power...

Dell XPS 15 2016 Laptop Review

The Dell XPS 15 2016 model is a premium notebook, but its battery life and price tag fail to impress. Read this Dell XPS 15 laptop review for more details.

Solid performance ; Excellent build quality ; Beautiful display

Average battery life ; Expensive as configured

After everything is said and done, the Dell XPS 15 2016 model is one of the best notebooks you’ll find in the 15-inch premium laptop category. The XPS 15 easily rivals the 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro and delivers various cutting-edge features on par with...

Dell XPS 15 review: A MacBook Pro rival for Windows users

Well-built, thin and light ; Comfortable keyboard ; Powerful performance options ; Beautiful 4K, color-accurate screen option

Short battery life with the 4K display ; Touchpad can be flaky

If you've been searching for a Windows-based alternative to the MacBook Pro, look no further than the Dell XPS 15. For a similar price, it offers comparable horsepower, a thin and light design and a brilliant 4K screen option. The one area where it...

Dell XPS 15 Touch (9550)

The Dell XPS 15 Touch (9550) might cost a pretty penny, but it's one of the best high-end desktop-replacement laptops for photo and video work, whether you're a hobbyist or a professional.

Premium construction. Stunning 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) screen. USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3. Large-capacity solid-state drive. Excellent performance, thanks to Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card.

Pricey. Sealed chassis. Less than 6 hours of battery life.

Conclusion The Dell XPS 15 Touch (9550) is a multimedia powerhouse that can serve both media professionals and prosumers quite well. It has the chops to motor through our benchmark tests, comes with very little bloatware to fill its 512GB SSD, and it...

The Dell XPS 15 9550 Review: Infinity Edge Lineup Expands

It was roughly a year ago that we had a chance to review Dell's XPS 13 , which was the first laptop from Dell to feature the Infinity Edge display. In addition to making the laptop look as much like a bezel-less display as possible, it also let Dell...

Overall, the XPS 15 is one of the sleekest 15-inch laptops on the market. If I was looking to purchase something of this size, the XPS 15 would be near the top of my list, thanks to the excellent build quality, great design, and compact size. When you...

Dell XPS 15 review: A pro laptop that throws down the gauntlet for Apple

With its 4K display, Core i7 CPU and discrete GPU, the XPS 15 can handle both mainstream and more demanding workloads. And with its slimline design and elegant edge-to-edge display, the XPS 15 shows that Dell can take on Apple at its own game.

Impressively bright and colourful 4K display ; Slimline chassis is just 17mm thick ; Quad-core Core i7 delivers high-end performance ; Discrete Nvidia GeForce GPU for graphics-heavy applications

4K display reduces battery life ; 2kg weight means it's no Ultrabook ; No optical drive

Dell XPS 15 review:

Consider the bezel. That humble landing strip of plastic or metal that frames the screen in almost every high-tech device. Televisions have largely done away with the the wide bezels of old, at least in mid-price and better sets, extending the screen...

An eye-catching 15-inch 4K display in a nearly bezel-free frame, plus high-end processor and graphics options, all in a slim, professional-looking body.

The better configurations can cost a lot, while the keyboard could be bigger and the touchpad has a floaty feel.

The Dell XPS 15 is a premium-feeling 4K laptop that outdoes the MacBook Pro in several categories. Its bezel-free design should be the gold standard going forward.
