Review Asus G72GX Gaming Notebook

Hot Gamer? Asus releases the optically and technically slightly r

Good application and gaming performance; Chic design; Many interfaces and perfect port distribution; Keyboard light; Wrist rests are always cool; Good loudspeakers; Big touchpad; BluRay drive; Extensive supplies: High-end backpack and Razer Copperhead...

Sensitive and smudge-susceptible case; Quite high system noise; Reflective display with a disappointing viewing angle stability; Yielding keyboard; Touchpad knobs get unpleasant after a time; Average battery life; Components too hot under load

What a beast, even after all these years

First, I purchased this used several weeks ago. I just wanted a moderate-level gaming machine that would last about 2 years or so. The Core 2 Duo E8700 has fantastic reviews, and the GTX 260M will be nVidia supported until April 2016. So this fit...

Workhorse processor: The P8700 is one of Intel's Core 2 Duo immortals. It can't keep up with the current generation of multi-threaded multi-core monsters, but for anyone with moderate gaming and media editing needs, it will work its tail off and not...

6GB DDR2 RAM: 6GB is an ok amount of RAM for a multitasker. But this is DDR2, so it's a slight step back. But given this is a classic gaming machine in its own right (dual-core processor, 200 series nVidia graphics), there's not a lot to complain about...

A Beast

Mine is still rocking and running strong. Can play a lot of my games...even the heavier graphics games....just on lower settings

Heavy heavy heavy....I thought I would gain portability with buying a laptop though I should have really considered the dimensions. This is not a laptop you will be able to pull out and watch a movie while on a plane ; If left idle for too long, screen...

Problematic

I can live with everything but the screen not working. I would have given it 4 stars if I did not have to refurbish it myself to fix the screen. Check youtube for the fix. You can press on the plastic right of the asus logo to get it to work once in a...

Great Specs for the price ; toslink out of jack1 works great ; e-sata works great

Wifi on/off switch only works in certain combinations ; (a driver issue) no driver software update available ; (temp fix, click on-screen logo when flipping switch on) ; usb door torn off and missing ; runs hot by design ; seems to hangup once in a...

Aside from the problems stated in the Cons the laptop runs very well. It's a shame that the flickering was as bad as it was (definitely avoid this laptop if you suffer from epilepsy). I wouldn't recommend this laptop for the flickering alone. The other...

I originally got this as a mild gaming/work laptop. It's pretty large for a laptop but I wasn't planning on moving it around regularly. I was pretty pleased with it for the first few of months. I was skeptical to get a refurbished laptop but it seemed...

About two months into my ownership I found that my screen was flickering a bit. I didn't give it much thought at the time until it got drastically worse. With a more specific issue to search for on this model I later came to find that it's actually a...

Awesome

Great machine. Going from a laptop that could barely handle easy games to this was a huge improvement. Extending on the pro's the games I've been playing like left 4 dead 2, Skyrim, Amnesia, Civ V all been running great and smooth high settings...

Great graphics, great processor, cool exterior design, runs games smoothly (WoW on ultra, Skyrim on high)

Finger print magnet, may have to send it back due to poor refurbishing job (if unlucky), sound volume isn't as that high
