Gateway ID47H02u

Gateway laptops are funny products. Of the two mainstream lines available, the "budget" NV series and the "higher-end" ID series, neither one currently has a single model that tops $699. So, in that sense, both are budget lines. The Gateway ID is the...

Strong battery life and a clean design along with a fast processor and USB 3.0 make the $699 Gateway ID47H02u stand out; the laptop also manages to fit a 14-inch display into the body of a 13-incher.

The Gateway ID47H02u lacks Bluetooth and dedicated graphics, and plenty of other 13- and 14-inch competitors offer similar features for a similar price.

The Gateway ID47H02u is a slim-bodied, full-featured 14-inch laptop that offers a surprisingly strong mix of performance and design at a price that hovers between budget and mainstream. While there are plenty of similar alternatives from other...

Gateway ID47HO2: Good Looks and Feel

Why any company would take a sleek, good-looking, decent-performing laptop and name it the ID47HO2 is a mystery. But Gateway has, and it doesn't do its subject justice--by all-purpose laptop standards, the ID47HO2 is a definite cut above in appearance....

Sleek good looks ; Good performance and display

Cluttered software package ; Highly reflective screen covering

Though not the fastest or most full-featured laptop, Gateway has hit the nail on the head in terms of desgn and overall appeal.

Gateway ID47H02u

The stylish Gateway ID47H02u packs a 14-inch display and a speedy Core i5 processor into a 13-inch aluminum chassis.

The Gateway ID47H02u is a strong choice for students, families, and anyone else who needs a highly portable notebook with a dash of style. The Dolby-powered speakers also help this 14-inch machine stand out. However, we're not big fans of the glossy...

Gateway ID47H02u

Like the Samsung QX411-W01, the ID47H02u's 64WH battery is sealed in to maximize capacity and prevent any physical bulging. Meanwhile, the Asus U46E-BAL5 and Sony EG16FM have removable batteries, making them easier to replace should they wear down over...

Fits 14-inch screen into a 13-inch frame. Lightweight. Only an inch thick, with an optical drive. Good keyboard. Core i5 processor is powerful. Over 8 hours of battery life

Plastic click touchpad needs a do-over. Battery is not removable

The Gateway ID47H02u, a compact, powerful, and battery efficient mainstream laptop, crams in as much screen as it can fit into a compact frame and doesn't overcharge you for it.

Gateway ID47H02u

Budget shoppers are used to sacrificing style to get the necessities. This is true if you're shopping for clothes, a car, or a laptop. So when a sleek, thin, and powerful notebook like the Gateway ID47H02u comes along, and it costs only $699, we start...

Thin and light ; Aluminum lid and keyboard deck ; Long battery life ; Strong performance for the price ; Decent audio

Touch pad takes getting used to ; Fixed-in-place battery ; Too much bloatware

One of the thinnest and lightest 14-inch laptops around, the ID47H02u boasts a sleek part-aluminum design, speed, and a long-running battery. It's an excellent deal for mobile users on the go.

"Love this Gateway"

I have the updated ID47H07u, which has a slightly faster I5 2430 processor at 2.4 ghz, 3.0 turbo, as well as added bluetooth capability. This laptop does not look like a 'budget' laptop with it's fingerprint hiding brushed aluminum lid and raised...

Compact size yet fully functional. Well built, quick to boot and shutdown. Battery life is about 7 hours for my web surfing, music listening habits. Sound is very good for a laptop with the included Dolby Home Theater software.

Battery isn't removable, like Apple's. Also no separate memory access. Would have to take entire back off (7 screws) which I won't do while it's under warranty. But it's very fast with the 4gb already.
