light weight, keyboard well laid out, fast, very good graphics

don't care for Best Buy's software nor Norton's software being a pest

an excellent value. The perfect student laptop. I would definitely recomend it. i would only worry about the chargers quality as my previous gateway charger didn't last very long.

at first glance you'd think the id49c07u is worth way more than it actually is

the touchpad can be alittle bit akward but you get used to it, the sound quality is great but you dont get much volume

Terrible computer all because of the touchpad. I am writing this and literally packing up to take it back to best buy. I gave it 5 days and it's cause SO much frustration with not being able to efficiently click or use the mouse. Don't buy.

Slim, Looks great, performance is good with i3 processor

Touchpad / mouse is ridiculously impossible to use. Takes 3-6 clicks for one to register. Sliding your finger usually doesn't register very well with the touchpad

Gateway ID49C07u

Slim, eye-catching design; Core i3 processor; affordable price

Awkward backlit touch pad is very uncomfortable to use; screen feels washed-out; flimsy keyboard

As a thin, affordable Core i3 laptop, the Gateway ID49C07u excels as an attractively priced back-to-school buy; however, its ergonomics and thin feature set might turn others off.

Highly Capable, Affordable Laptop Has a Touch of Class

By Christopher Null (wired.com)

Dashing good looks and cutting-edge performance don't have to come at a steep price, and for scholars heading back to school this fall, there's only a handful

Solid performance for a great budget price. Modern styling. Well-positioned USB ports. Very portable, fairly lightweight and quite slim

Still not used to the mega-click touchpad after a week of testing. Keyboard has next to no travel. Needs a serious kick in the graphics pants

Gateway ID49C07u

By Sarah Jacobsson Purewal (pcworld.com)

The Gateway ID49C07u is a slim, eye-catching 14-inch laptop with a pretty good price--just under $580 at the time of this review. The ID49C07u (a Best Buy exclusive model) has a 2.28GHz Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive, a...

Good price ; Extremely thin and attractive

Touchpad is not very responsive ; Keyboard is a dust magnet

This laptop is very stylish, especially for the price, but it sacrifices performance for sexiness.

It runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

Gateway ID49C07u

By Michael A. Prospero (laptopmag.com)

This notebook's glowing touchpad isn't for everyone, but it delivers good performance and a sleek design at an affordable price.

Consumers looking for an inexpensive notebook that still has a sense of style should check out the Gateway ID49C07u. Not only is its metallic lid classy, but the notebook has decent performance figures to back it up. While we wish battery life was a...

Ultimately, the ID's glowing touchpad seems a little gimmicky, but we like that Gateway tried something new on a system that isn't for the uber-rich.

The 14-inch widescreen has good viewing angles, but isn't any different than other screens in its class. That's because its resolution, like that of every other 14-inch laptop, is limited to 1,366 by 768. Still, it's a productive screen—wide enough so...

Trendy aluminum design. Glowing touchpad is a neat gimmick. Very inexpensive. Four USB ports. Fast Core i3 processor. Very good battery life

Flexing keyboard. Noisy, springy touchpad

The Gateway ID49C07u is designed like an Apple MacBook Pro, at a fraction of the cost.
