I would have deducted one egg for Newegg not having a more transparent approach to their refurbished stock, but this review is about the laptop, not Newegg. It's worth the 5 stars, especially @ $449 + free shipping. If you want a cosmetically flawless...
All that you get for a low price and free shipping. Fast and responsive adult laptop. Bloatware wasn't too bad either. Just a couple of programs to uninstall. This is bright silver with wavy lines, a feminine look (IMO), and my wife just loves it. The...
Class B Refurbished. I thought Newegg only dealt with Class A. The laptop wound up with more than one cosmetic flaw. Had I known this was Class B refurbished, I would have passed it up. And the cover to the HDD's was halfway off, I had to pop it back...

have bought refurbs before, from acer, have not been unpleasantly suprised, seems to be good value
Everything works, nice finish and feel, quick i3 response
price dropped 10 beans after bought, having difficulty burning back up disk, quites with write errors in middle of 3 disk burn, seems to be buggy acer software

Sleeker design than predecessor, Blu-ray player, Runs cool, Strong wireless range, Long two-year warranty
Slow hard drive, Performs worse than cheaper notebooks, Low resolution display
Even after playing a Hulu clip at full screen for 15 minutes, the notebook stayed cool, measuring 90 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad and 92 degrees at the center of the keyboard and on its bottom side. True, the average notebook this size also...

For many consumers, design is an important part of their laptop-purchasing decision. Gateway is apparently wise to this as evidenced by its NV59C09, a $799 15-inch notebook with a Core i3 processor and Blu-ray combo drive. It's a bit more attractive...
Comfortable keyboard; Blu-ray drive included; solid performance
Battery life still below average; should really have Core i5 processor or larger hard drive at its price
At less than $800, the redesigned Gateway NV59C09u is a solid large-screen laptop, but it's really just the better-value NV5933u in a more expensive coating.
There are a couple other nonessential differences, but really, unless you're in love with the NV59C09's design, you should save $150 and buy the NV5933u. At the NV59C09's ...

The exterior of the Gateway NV59C09 is a subtly rippling silver with black edging and an understated "Gateway" logo on the top. The LED-backlit 15.6-inch screen set to a 16-by-9 aspect ratio scores, too: It's small enough for easy portability, yet...
Slick style ; Very reasonable amount of power for work and video
A bit too pricey for the storage and display ; Feels fragile in hand
This laptop provides reasonable power for video and work, but it feels cheaper than its price warrants.
At 15 inches wide, 9.96 inches front to back, 1.22 to 1.34 inches thick, and 5.5 pounds (6.3 pounds including the charger), the NV59C09 isn't too big or too heavy. Nevertheless I didn't come away believing that this all-purpose laptop was worth the...

A two-year warranty is included with the NV59C09u, courtesy of Costco, though you will need to be a member to buy this particular configuration. It also offers Costco's Concierge Services, a free service to Costco members who purchase electronics at...
Blu-ray drive included. Excellent keyboard. Numeric keypad present. Lightweight. Inexpensive. Two-year warranty
Design is dated. Below-average performance
The Gateway NV59C09u's Blu-ray drive is a very convincing feature, but be wary of its average parts and features.

Gateway has crammed Intel Core i3 power into a 15.6-inch notebook with a Blu-ray player, making for an attractive package. But is the performance as good as the machine's features? - Read on to find out...
Today I am looking at the Gateway NV59C09u notebook. At first glance, the 15.6-inch screen might make the machine look more like your typical all around notebook. However, Gateway has put a HD capable GPU and a Blu-ray player inside the Gateway...
