Review Gigabyte U2442N Notebook

Ultra-mobile without Compromise? Ultrabook-slim yet high performance? The new Gigabyte U2442N promises just that and it delivers thanks to a HDD-SSD combo and the GT 640M graphics card. ...

High application and gaming performance ; Matt display surface ; SSD-HDD combo ; Bluetooth 4.0 ; USB 3.0

Poor contrast and viewing angles ; Noisy keyboard ; High power consumption ; Poor speakers ; Small battery

The well-designed cooling uses employs two fans and ensures good cooling for the CPU and GPU. In fact, it is so effective that even in our stress test, we did not notice any throttling. This is quite an accomplishment for such a compact case

Gigabyte U2442N Extreme Ultrabook (preview)

Gigabyte has launched its extreme Ultrabook in Australia, catering to users who want power as well as mobility

NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M graphics ; 128GB SSD ; Good CPU ; Four USB ports

Doesn't have dual-band Wi-Fi ; Rough touchpad texture

Gigabyte's extreme Ultrabook is tailored towards users who want plenty of speed in a small chassis. It has a powerful graphics chip, a full-voltage CPU, and it can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and hybrid storage.

Gigabyte U2442N

An ultraportable gaming laptop that packs in the specs.

Some of the best specs of any Ultrabook ; High-resolution screen ; Usable, backlit keyboard

Poor battery life ; Average design ; TN screen = poor viewing angles ; Clacky keyboard keys

The right-hand side houses a full-size SDXC card slot, twin USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI 1.4 for video. There’s also a blocked-off port which looks like it was made to carry a miniDisplayPort.
