Review HP EliteBook 2170p Subnotebook

Bonsai. A bonsai is a perfected miniature tree, maintained well and with a lot of perseverance. Is HP's smallest EliteBook also perfect in form and devised with attention to detail?

Very good application performance, No performance drops on battery power, Relatively cool chassis, Very good and diverse input devices, Stable base unit, Fast SSD storage, Docking & DisplayPort, Security features & tools, Recovery disk,...

Display with poor contrast, Brightness decreases on battery power, Is there no production of IPS panels (wide viewing angles, high contrast) with HD resolution

HP EliteBook 2170p

The HP EliteBook 2170p is a well-designed business ultraportable with a terrific keyboard and a solidly resilient chassis.

Handsomely designed. Excellent keyboard.

So-so battery life. Extended battery juts out the rear. No HDMI.

HP EliteBook 2170p Review

At $1,099, the HP EliteBook 2170p offers a durable build and above-average battery life in a lightweight design that's easy for road warriors to carry. Our chief complaint is the liliputian touchpad, which makes executing Windows 8 gestures somewhat of...

Lightweight, durable design, Above-average battery life, Speedy boot time, Fingerprint reader

Relatively dim display, Cramped touchpad, No extended-battery options

HP EliteBook 2170p Review

The EliteBook line is long overdue for an update. Today, when placed alongside modern Ultrabooks, the 2170p looks and feels ancient.

HP EliteBook 2170p Ultraportable Review: Business Class, But Business Savvy?

We recently reviewed Acer's Aspire V5-171, a notebook that proves that there's a life (and a market) after netbooks but before ultrabooks. The essential gap that's materialized has been between the fast decaying netbook market (its death spurred on by...

Expectations are strange things. As reviewers we try to be unbiased, but we aren't really immune to being excited about or nervous about a product coming in for review. Consequently, a promising product that turns out to be nearly everything you hoped...

HP EliteBook 2170p Review and Ratings

This pint-size EliteBook feels rock-solid, is easy to repair, and comes stuffed with every feature an IT department could want. It's a strong fit for flush businesses looking to deploy a fleet, but note: It's pricey, and the touch pad is quite cramped.

Abundant business features ; Solid, attractive build quality ; Easy to repair or upgrade ; Lightweight and highly portable

Very cramped touch pad ; Pricey ; Jutting battery in test model ; Humdrum display

The EliteBook 2170p may be a pricey and meaty-around-the-hips departure from the ultrabook norm, but we can't imagine too many traveling execs who wouldn't like to carry a compact, good-looking model like this one. Still, this machine is something of...

HP EliteBook 2170p review

Look past the old-school design of the 2170p and you'll see a business-grade machine outfitted with plenty of features to match its use case. Aside from the smart-card slot and optional fingerprint reader (with TPM hardware to match in either case),...
