HP Elitebook 8440w

The HP EliteBook 8440w is a solidly constructed, no-compromise business laptop.

Fast Core i7 processor. Over 7 hours of battery life. Tough as nails. Fully-loaded feature set. Great resolution on 14-inch widescreen. Workstation graphics. 3-year warranty included.

Pointing stick is stiff. Pre-configured models lack flexibility.

HP EliteBook 8440w

The HP EliteBook 8440w won't win awards for ultrathin design elements or elegant looks, but underneath the almost military-style exterior is a dual-core (with Hyperthreading) Intel CPU coupled with an nVidia Quadro FX 380M professional-grade graphics...

Quad-core performance with discrete graphics ; Ruggedized construction

Audio playback quality is poor ; Video playback quality is mediocre

The EliteBook 8440w is a solid corporate laptop with a great keyboard, but it isn't a multimedia powerhouse.

HP EliteBook 8440w Review

At $1,649, the HP EliteBook 8440w is on the expensive side for a Core i7 system with a midrange graphics card, but its price also reflects the sturdiness, security, and support that comes with a system of this caliber. Still, with the portability of...

Excellent Core i7 performance, Stylish design, Meets military durability standards, Loud speakers

Not the fastest graphics frame rates, Underside runs hot, Somewhat expensive

HP EliteBook 8440w Core i7 Notebook Review

Splitting the difference. Satisfying the niche. Exploiting an opportunity. All of those phrases could be used to accurately describe what HP has done here with the new EliteBook 8440w. It's one of the smaller options in the expanding EliteBook family,...

Great overall performance ; Gorgeous Gunmetal Design ; Great Keyboard ; Stellar Multimedia Playback ; Rugged + Lightweight

Pricey at around $1700 ; So-so Battery Life ; Lackluster LCD ; Runs Very Warm

In our SiSoftware SANDRA tests, the EliteBook 8440w stood up well against the competition, thanks in large part to its relatively powerful Core i7-620 processor. In the real world benchmarks, the Elitebook's 7200rpm hard drive was extremely responsive,...

Laptop Review: HP EliteBook 8440w

It's no quad-core screamer, but the 8440w isn't far from the top of the notebook performance charts, either. Our test system racked up a score of 6,948 in PCMark Vantage ; rendered Cinebench R10 's sample scene in a swift 94 seconds; and managed 8.2...

HP EliteBook 8440w

The HP EliteBook 8440w uses a top-end Intel processor and Nvidia Quadro graphics engine to deliver excellent performance to mobile professionals. It's a bit bulkier than other 14-inch laptops, but you get a lot of features for a reasonable price.

Excellent performance; solid, business-rugged construction; very comfortable keyboard; high-res screen; lots of extras

Bulky and heavy; small touch pad

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

Excellent build quality ; High-end business configuration ; Very good keyboard, trackpad ; Wide range of connectivity options ; Workstation-class GPU ; Fingerprint reader

Battery life

The HP EliteBook 8440w is a top-of-the-line 14-inch workstation class business laptop with high-end internal hardware and performance. It also offers great build quality, excellent usability, but average battery life.

HP EliteBook 8440W review

Overall, the HP EliteBook 8440w is a relatively impressive laptop for business users, but it's marred by poor video playback quality and mediocre audio. However, its excellent keyboard and long battery life will appeal to people who would rather work...
