Review HP EliteBook 8470p Notebook

Business and more? About a year ago we put the predecessor model, the 8460p, to the test. The manufacturer HP now introduces the EliteBook 8470p as the successor, although it has the same old look, the internal components have been revamped.

Robust metal case, Clean processing, Good input devices, High data security, Application performance, Well cooled case, Excellent input devices

Bulky appearance, Poor contrast display, No switchable graphics, The EliteBooks have gotten big, fast

HP EliteBook 8470p

Strictly speaking, the HP EliteBook 8470p ($1,499 direct) is a business-class laptop. But that classification doesn't cover all of its capabilities. The EliteBook 8470p is a versatile all-around performer armed with enough firepower to double as a...

Solid performer. Sturdy chassis. Two USB 3.0 ports. eSATA port. 3-year standard parts and labor warranty

Dismal battery life. Bulky

The HP EliteBook 8470p is a solid business-class laptop armed with enough firepower to justify adding "multimedia powerhouse" and "gaming rig" to its resume. For those who don't need a ruggedly designed system, though, comparable laptops with cheaper...

BUSINESS READY!

HP EliteBook 8470p

These days, store shelves and online outlets are overflowing with super-thin ultrabooks. With so much press focused on these aesthetically pleasing portables, and business-centric models like Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon joining their consumer cousins,...

Attractive, rugged exterior ; Fairly light ; Plethora of configuration, upgrade, and connectivity options

Poor battery life with six-cell battery ; Boxy design in an ultrabook era ; No hybrid storage

Corporate customers looking for a compact, rugged laptop with good looks that's easy to upgrade should consider the EliteBook 8470p. Just note that if you want stellar battery life, you'll definitely want to splurge on an extra battery.

HP EliteBook 8470p business notebook

Stacks of built-in features, fast performance and a good support plan make this a worthy business machine

Performance ; Solid build quality ; Good keyboard ; Lots of built-in features

Touchpad sometimes unreliable ; Screen resolution too low ; Feels heavy

HP EliteBook 8470p review

In consumerland, that might not seem like a great configuration when you consider the £1156 price of the machine — where is the solid state drive, why doesn't it have more RAM and how come you don't get a discrete graphics card or a Core i7 CPU, we...

Good computer overall, missing some things...

I would recommend this product. It would help if you are somewhat computer savvy and can locate and load drivers yourself. The Windows 7 updates are a nightmare. There are around 200 of them. It took quite some time. The Windows update function hogs...

Good computer. Cant beat it for the price. I added an additional 4GB of ram and it really goes. I don't think it would make a good gaming computer or CAD station, but for doing basic home or office stuff it is perfect.

This computer did not have any of the HP drivers installed. None. Just Windows 7. It did function with the Windows drivers, just not at the level it should have. I managed to find all the drivers on the HP website and load them successfully. There were...
