Volcano on your table!

As impressive it looks, so bad performance it delivers. This machine has really nice hardware inside- a powerful CPU and GPU, memory, two hard disks, but it has one huge problem- heat. When you load your CPU more than 10%, the heat inside reaches 100C. The CPU cores are throttling, performance drops, the palm rest becomes so hot you can't touch it. To keep working, you need to kill all processes you can, you must not ever start windows defender, your games will cause the computer to hibernate, preventing overheat. Just don't buy it.

HP Envy 17 3D Review

HP's Envy 3D notebook has been around for some time now but amongst so many notebooks sporting Nvidia's 3DVision floating around, it seems lost in the crowd. This is one of the few noteboo

With the original price of Rs. 89,990, HP are now offering the Envy 17 for a reduced price of Rs. 69,990 throughout India. This offer started recently and will be applicable for the next couple of months. This is good pricing for a 17.3-inch multimedia...

Review HP Envy 17-1190eg Notebook

3D Envy. HP brings in a top notch entertainer with the HP Envy 17

Design; Material; Workmanship; Keyboard; 3D capable; Performance; Usefull pre-installed software (Photoshop Elements); 3D works perfectly in movies (when they are 3D)

System noise (fan permanently active); Consumption; Battery Life; Weight (heavy); Price; 3D isn't intuitive in games

That only a few PDFs were stored on the 2 GB SD memory card. This capacity could have been used to explain a few functions closer with one or two videos (3D).

HP Envy 17 Review

The Envy 17 is the biggest and most powerful model in HP's top-end line of laptops, which are known for their sex appeal and solid build quality. The Envy 17's 11x16.5x1.5-inch chassis is constructed of magnesium alloy with an aluminum wrapping that's...

Handsome and well-built; good performance/portability ratio; Eyefinity

Somewhat limited for games; weak battery life; gets hot under graphics load

But even with its few shortcomings, there’s an awful lot to like about the Envy 17. It’s good-looking, well built, and capable of performing the gamut of desktop functions to varying degrees of satisfaction, while remaining reasonably portable.

HP ENVY 17 Review: A Great Entertainment PC

The 17-inch ENVY 17 is the largest notebook in the ENVY line and as such has room for some of the best processors and graphics available at a starting price of around $1,200. We took a closer look at this impressive machine to see if it's worth its...

Great speakers ; Good backlit keyboard ; Lots of ports ; Fair price

Glossy, reflective screen ; Weak screen lid ; Thin aluminum sides ; Loud fan while gaming

The folks at HP like to call the ENVY 17 a "premium entertainment PC" and that's not a bad description of this sleek 17-inch notebook. The combination of a powerful Intel Core i7 processor, AMD Radeon graphics, 8GB of RAM and a 1080p display form the...

HP's 3-D Laptop: One More D, 300 More Dollars

If you thought 3-D was a tough sell for the living room, now imagine if you had to lug the technology around with you. That, in fact, is the big sell of the HP Envy 17 3D, and any other 3D-equipped laptop: it gives you the world of three dimensions on...

Three dimensions, people! Can you dig it? Backlit keyboard. Impressive “Beats” audio system. Dazzling, super-bright display. Includes Adobe Photoshop and Elements combo

3-D experience is gimmicky, weak and already boring. Loud, grinding fan drowns out those awesome speakers when laptop heats up. There's just no excuse for a computer this big to have arrow keys this pathetically small

HP Envy 17 3D

I took a close look at HP's Envy 17 last September and found a lot to like, plus a few issues that bugged me. So it goes with most products--there's no perfect laptop. Now HP's refreshing the Envy 17, adding a new display and stereoscopic 3D capability.

Audio quality among the best in laptops ; Superb LCD display; excellent 3D Blu-ray visuals

3D gaming is frustrating and often doesn't work ; Short battery life

HP's Envy 17 3D offers robust 3D Blu-ray, but limited 3D gaming. While it's a solid addition to HP's line, problems with 3D gaming and battery life are a concern.

HP ENVY 17 3D Review

Welcome to a review of the biggest fattest HP 3D desktop replacement notebook you'll ever come across. Not that it's the biggest that'll ever be made, but when you've got this thing sitting on your desk, you'll wonder how you ever got along without...

HP Envy 17 3D

HP adds a 3D display and glasses to an already powerful and stylish big-screen notebook.

The Envy 17 3D is not cheap, but for $1,649 you get a premium design, quad-core power, solid gaming performance, Blu-ray, and a bright 1080p display. The 3D experience isn't as robust or as seamless as laptops powered by Nvidia's 3D Vision technology,...

HP Envy 17 review

When it comes to selecting our favorite mainstream Windows laptops these days the HP Envy 14 is pretty much at the tippy top of the list. (Hey, we don't just give anything away to our college-bound readers, you know?) But while the 14-inch version of...

Beautiful, well-built chassis ; Stunning 17.3-inch HD display ; Seriously speedy performance / graphics

Touchpad is still annoying ; Palmrest can get quite toasty ; Heavier than other desktop replacements

HP Envy 17

Blazing fast performance meets elegant design in this big-screen luxury notebook.

While $1,599 isn't exactly a budget price for a notebook these days, it's a steal when you consider everything the HP Envy 17 offers. You get a stunning but understated design, bright full HD display, fast performance, and strong graphics. Only the...
