My G62-348CA

I bought this thinking I was buying a trusted brand. The battery life is terrible and the hard drive failed after just over a year (just past warranty). HP website makes it impossible to find a contact email or phone number if your product is not under warranty. Very disappointed. Next time I'll go with Acer, my mother has loved her Acer laptop and has had NO issues with it.

The penguin smiles

Got for $380 at Staples, didn't buy their extended warranty. Per HP tech, I made backup DVDs of Win7 just in case, deleted recovery partition & made extended partitions. Tried Bodhi and LinuxMint XFCE but I like good ole Ubuntu best. Everything worked: wifi, camera, sound, media reader, even the extra buttons. I use an external mouse most of the time cuz the buttons are stiff and touchpads are a pain anyhow.

Quiet, Cheap

Stiff mouse buttons

we bought each of our children this laptop for christmas, here is it FEbruary and the keyboard on BOTH of them are giving us issues! It seems to be fine for emails etc, but when in any kind of chat or message board, you can be typing away and half the letters dont show up, or the space bar doesnt work between words, its EXTREMELY frustrating , for example if I were to be in a chat and I type "Hello how are you today?" It would show up something like " Hllo hwar youtody" I was going to purchase another one for myself and my husband but my mind has quickly chnaged!

Review HP G62-130EG Notebook

Budget laptop. One Intel core processor please, with a side-order

Solid, hardwearing case; Fast hard drive; Low system noise; Decent keyboard; Good sound quality from the speakers

Poor graphics performance; Glossy display with low contrast; No number pad; Touchpad buttons don’t depress very far

The Acer Aspire 5741G: with Radeon HD 5470 and a slimmer look; the Sony Vaio VPCEA1S1E/W: similar hardware in a 14.1-inch format; the Acer Aspire 4820TG: HD 5650 with a 14-inch screen; the Acer Aspire 5551G: with AMD triple-core; the Samsung P530 Pro:...

HP G62-225DX

Editors' note: This review is part of our 2010 Retail laptop and desktop back-to-school roundup, covering specific fixed configurations of popular systems that can be found in retail stores.

Attractive design; svelte for a 15.6-inch laptop; competitive performance for the price; great keyboard; HDMI port

Dismal battery life; stiff mouse button is uncomfortable; no multitouch support on touch pad; below-average audio

Poor battery life and a stiff mouse button sour the deal for the otherwise attractive and affordable HP G62-225DX.

HP G62t

Fast, stylish, and long-lasting, this 15-inch notebook is the best you can get for less than $600.

Thanks to its sophisticated design, fast performance, and long battery life, the HP G62t is the best bargain notebook around. Mainstream gamers will find that the Gateway NV5934u, also $599, offers better graphics performance, while the identically...

HP G62-225nr

The HP G62-225nr ($579.98 list) is a mainstream, budget laptop that should serve the needs of a wide range of users—as long as speedy performance isn't a prerequisite. Available at Staples, there's actually not much to make the HP G62-225nr stand out...

Inexpensive. Very good battery life. Matte surface is smudge-resistant

Below-average performance

The HP G62-225nr is a 15.6-inch budget laptop with good battery life, but below-average performance and an unimpressive feature set.

HP G62-355dx

There are budget laptops that raise the bar for the crowded desktop replacement market, and there are those wallet-friendly models that give you the bare minimum; the HP G62-355dx ($479.99 list), available at Best Buy, falls into the latter category....

Very affordable. Comfortable keyboard. Bright display

Sluggish performance. So-so battery life. Stingy feature set

You won't pay a lot for the HP G62-355dx, but you won't get much in the way of performance or features, either.

HP G62-223CL

Costco also offers customers some added benefits. Whereas most vendors provide just a one-year warranty, Costco bumps that up to two years. It also offers Costco's Concierge Services, a free service to Costco members who purchase electronics at the...

Fast hard drive. Inexpensive. Lightweight. Matte lid is smudge-resistant. Costco's two year warranty is standard

Running on last year's processors. Quicklaunch keys are oddly placed. Mouse buttons are too resistant. Below average performance scores

The HP G62-223cl is an inexpensive mainstream laptop, but you can find a faster one for about the same price.

HP G62-435DX

The trackpad is covered in the same imprinted pattern. Because it's seamlessly molded into the palm rest, with the same pattern as the rest of the chassis, there's no way to distinguish by feel where the palm rest ends and the trackpad begins. It led...

Comfortable keyboard. Card reader supports several formats. Dual-layer DVD burner. Best Buy offers decent extended warranties

Frustrating, stiff touchpad. Disappointing speakers. Weak performance across the board. Unattractive design. Small hard drive

The HP G62-534DX is a stripped down budget laptop, but with similarly priced systems offering so much more, there's not much to recommend it.

HP G62 Intel Dual Core 2.3GHz 16" LED-Backlit Laptop for $430 + free shipping

This Rocks!

This laptop is fantastic for the price! I have owned mine for a year now with no issues what-so-ever. I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB and it runs cooler and faster yet! :) I highly reccommend this for anyone who needs a serious 'computer' in their life....

Mine has a 7200HDD spin rate, an Intel i3 dual core and 2.4 GHz processor with 4 MB RAM. Blazingly quick for the price

A little warmer than my Samsung but not anything of consequence
