HP Omnibook 500

New 3.8-pound ultraportable can use three batteries at once when you add its 1.6-pound media slice.

Frequent travelers with deep pockets will appreciate the fast, handsome Omnibook 500 the most. Its flexible design lets you trim connections to lower the notebook's weight, or add bays and legacy ports and even use three batteries at once. All but...

HP OmniBook 500

The HP Omnibook 500 is a study in dichotomy. At 1.1 inches thick and 3.9 pounds system weight, it is one of the thinnest yet heaviest one-spindle notebooks in our roundup. Its hardware configuration is on the low end, but its $2,855 price tag is high....

HP OmniBook 500 Mobile Pentium III 600MHz

Size can be a real dilemma. You want a light, compact notebook that won't dislodge your shoulder from its socket as you run through the airport. But small notebooks usually mean compromise, and you're not willing to sacrifice capability HP may have the...

The perfect mobile notebook HP OmniBook 500

The perfect notebook for mobile professionals combines ultra-portability with the ability to function as a desktop replacement system as required. HP's versatile new OmniBook 500 goes a long way towards satisfying both requirements.

Substandard product, don't waste your money!

My Omnibook 500 is 4.5 months old. To date, I have already had to replace the hard drive and the system RAM. Now the lcd display panel has gone completely white and needs to be replaced ($600 ). The keyboard works sometimes. From my research, I found...

Great travel laptop

This laptop is not for everyone. If you have need for CD or floppy drives while on the road -- buy something larger. If like me, you connect to the internet for everything -- consider this model. This is my "second machine", as such I don't need a...

Small, light, solid, professional. Cool blue LED's. Easy to swap HD's.

No IrDA or serial port, pointing stick mouse, click after playing audio, low audio levels.

"Not As Advertised"

Many ads claim that Omnibook 500 won a PCMagazine Editor's Choice award. Wow! Big deal! The reality is those awards do not reflect the true value of the products and Omnibook 500 has been a clear example of this deceptive tactic.

HP Omnibook500

I purchased my Omnibook500 about a month ago and had owned several different notebooks by Toshiba, Sony, and IBM. I use the notebook about 5 hours a day. I use the notebook mostly for computation and field data analysis. In terms of performance,...

small, compact and fairly light

No IR port. Battery life shorter than HP claims. Tech support is horrible.
