HP Pavilion Chromebook 14

The HP Pavilion Chromebook 14 is the first Chrome device from HP, blending the best of a budget Pavilion with the web-friendly Chrome OS.

Larger display makes multitasking much easier. Larger keyboard allows room for extra function keys and more comfortable typing. Plastic construction, though clearly budget-friendly, feels solid

Short battery life. Port selection feels sparse. Comes with all the usual caveats about Chrome OS

Google's Chromebook may not get much respect in some tech circles, but HP offers a vote of confidence with a Chrome-based laptop of its own, the HP Pavilion Chromebook 14. Blending the design aesthetics of a budget Pavilion laptop with the free...

HP Pavilion Chromebook 14

Sitting down in front of the $329 HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook, one could be forgiven for thinking this is just another in a long line of slim plastic laptops with budget prices. I previously reviewed the HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15z , an ultrabooklike...

The HP Pavilion Chromebook 14 feels more like a traditional laptop than other Chromebooks. Its big screen and Chrome's improved offline capabilities make a better case for the category.

Other Chromebooks perform better and run longer. The limited Chrome OS is still not for everyone, or even for most. This model lacks the mobile broadband that makers of other Chromebooks have touted as a must-have feature.

The HP Pavilion Chromebook 14 advances the argument for Chrome as a low-cost mainstream computing environment, but the laptop's most noteworthy feature is a slightly bigger screen.

Larger screen will suit some, brighter screen than some competitors, SD slot for storage expansion, fast for browsing, SSD makes for quick start-up

No 3G, poor screen viewing angle, so-so screen resolution considering size, plasticky, OS/application limitations, average overall experience

The HP Pavilion Chromebook 14 isn't a revelation. It's a lot like an enlarged - and glammed-up thanks to its sparkly glossy plastic (make of that what you will) - version of the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook. The added screen size adds a few quid to the...

"Good, inexpensive laptop"

Good, inexpensive laptop that needs better instructions.

Small, light-weight, easy to use, long battery life

User Guide is worthless; you learn by using the laptop.
