HP Pavilion dm4 Review: Beats Audio Not Just a Marketing Ploy

The 14-inch HP Pavilion dm4 is what HP calls the company's "remarkably thin, yet surprisingly powerful" entertainment machine. This particular system is Beats Audio-themed and has what HP calls "superior sound" ... check out our full review to see if...

Fantastic audio quality ; Good performance at this price point ; Appealing design ; Lots of value

Difficult to see the keyboard in the dark (without the backlight) ; Washed out display

HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition: Great Sound and Style at a Reasonable Price

The HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition does a lot for a little. The moderately priced laptop boasts sturdy, striking design, powerful speakers, a generous allotment of external ports, good battery life, and an Intel Core i5 processor. It's not perfect in...

Loud, clear audio with subwoofer ; Aesthetically pleasing, sturdy, low-profile design

Trackpad's poor response ; Poor gaming experience

Though lacking in graphics performance, the HP dm4 Beats Edition features great design and sound at a good starting price.

HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats Edition

HP has given its popular Pavilion dm4 the Beats treatment, painting the entire chassis black and giving the keyboard a menacingly cool red backlight. But good looks aren't the only reason to pick up this unique laptop. The HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats...

HP Pavilion dm4 review: HP Pavilion dm4

The middle-of-the-road multimedia laptops that come out of HP have always been excellent examples of the style. They typically bring some upscale design buzz--but not too much in the way of extra features or components--while keeping prices down.

Upscale design; powerful CPU; large touch pad; excellent battery life.

There are better midsize multimedia deals out there; app dock is loaded with advertising pitches.

HP's latest multimedia system, the Pavilion dm4, is a powerful, slick-looking package--but some competitors in the same price range offer more features for less.

HP Pavilion dm4

The HP Pavilion dm4 is the lightest 14-inch laptop available and features a speedy Core i5 processor.

Gorgeous metallic design. Lightest in its class. Comfortable keyboard. Fast Intel Core i5 processor. Very good battery life. Top marks in our performance tests.

Gesture touchpad can be finicky at times. Force required to plug a USB device into the eSATA port.
