HP's Pavilion dv9000t media laptop

HP's latest model of their media power laptop lineup, the dv9000 series, now has one more option for users to configure when they go to order theirs: Core 2 Duo. It's not as though we haven't seen enough of these Core 2 Duo machines already this week...

HP Pavilion dv9700t review: HP Pavilion dv9700t

HP Pavilion dv9700t

Attractive design; bright, crisp display; Blu-ray drive; thorough set of audiovisual controls, ports, and connections; long battery life; touch pad power button; fingerprint reader.

Mediocre gaming performance; HDMI port takes the place of one USB port; decent, but not great, speakers.

The HP Pavilion dv9700t doesn't have enough graphics power to satisfy gaming enthusiasts, but it is a great choice for home users who don't want to spend a fortune on a Blu-ray equipped entertainment notebook.

HP dv9000z (Vista Ultimate) review: HP dv9000z (Vista Ultimate)

Beautiful design; bright, crisp display; complete set of AV controls, ports, and connections, including an HD DVD drive; long battery life; touch pad on/off button; excellent software.

Display resolution could be higher; media controls provide audible feedback when pressed.

The HD-friendly, feature-laden HP Pavilion dv9000z offers a high-end entertainment experience without the high-end price tag of competitive models.

HP Pavilion dv9000t

Big desktop replacement model includes an HD DVD drive.

Has a designer look Includes dual hard drives and a Webcam

So-so battery life

The dv9000t provides great desktop muscle plus one-touch music, photos, and movies.

HP Pavilion dv9000t

The dv9000t's HD DVD drive and QuickPlay 2.3 + an Intel Core 2 Duo processor = crazy delicious video playback

Integrated HD DVD-ROM drive. QuickPlay 2.3 is solid for HD playback. Powerful processor. Two headphone ports. 2GB RAM.

1,440-by-900 resolution seems a little low for an HD. Still doesn't have an integrated TV tuner.

HP Pavilion dv9000 review: HP Pavilion dv9000

Beautiful design; bright, crisp display; complete set of A/V controls, ports, and connections, including an HD-DVD drive; long battery life; touch pad on/off button; excellent software.

Display resolution could be higher; media controls provide audible feedback when pressed.

Home users who want their laptop to double as a home entertainment center will love the high-end (and high-def) features on the HP Pavilion dv9000t.

HP Pavilion dv9000t (Vista)

There's a lot to be said about HP's design: The artistic imprints and the piano-black finish make it flashier than the Qosmio AV660. Its dimensions are thin, too: 15.5 by 11.1 by 1.1 inches (HWD). At 8.8 pounds, the dv9000t is still heavy, but...

Loaded with the über edition of Vista. Excellent HD experience. HDMI port for HD output. Best deal out there for an HD DVD laptop. Innovative remote that fits in the Express Card slot. Built-in remote sensor. Lighter than the competition

Needs an integrated TV tuner. I'd like to see some more options for graphics cards

If you're ready to jump on the HD DVD bandwagon, the dv9000t offers the best playback software and features on a desktop-replacement laptop.

HP Pavilion dv9700t User Review

HP offers an array of customizable options when you order a laptop from their website. I started with the base dv9700t model, which cost a shade less than $1,000, and customized my way up to just over $1,400. There was a special coupon (which might...

Great keyboard ; Good performance with T8100 processor ; Excellent screen with dual backlights

Minor feedback on the headphone jacks ; Not the best touchpad and buttons

The battery that comes stock is an 8-cell, but I upgraded to the high-capacity 8-cell, which is the only other option. With the brightness turned up all the way, the battery lasted just about three hours before kicking off. Owners can reasonably expect...
