HP Pavilion m6

When I first saw it at one of HP's many laptop preview events , the Pavilion m6 was intriguing, at least on paper. It was a slim 15-inch laptop, with an optical drive and optional discrete graphics that looked like the middle ground between HP's...

The HP Pavilion m6 adds some high-end details from HP's more expensive laptops, while keeping the price down. This is a highly configurable system, with options for discrete graphics and fast CPUs.

This is just not as solidly built as HP's Envy laptops. The keyboard isn't great, and the low screen resolution feels clunky on a 15-inch laptop.

This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price. The only real knock against the Pavilion m6 is that some of HP's higher-end systems hardly cost more.

"PIECE OF JUNK!!!!"

Purchased a new one in July, 2012. It started freezing and going blank after about 45 days. Spent many hours on the phone with HP tech support getting nowhere, pulling the battery compartment to check wiring, reinstalling BIOS, etc. They finally gave...

"Best computer I have ever bought, owned and used."

I love it so much that I can't stop using it and it's just simply amazing and that word pretty much explains it all.

Great screen size, battery life, storage. It's quite light and very portable although I wouldn't been taking it so many places.

The optical drive is really annoying and the back kinda bends when I tried taking out the battery out.

A highly portable, Intel-powered laptop - isn't that an Ultrabook? Well not in the case of the Pavilion m6.

HP Pavilion m6 hands-on

The mid-range HP Pavilion m6 may be unlikely to blow your mind, but if the decent design is matched by solid performance and battery life, this could prove a dependable laptop. We'll be looking for processing grunt and impressive battery life when it...

Reasonably slim ; Optional graphics and keyboard backlight ; Decent array of ports

Optional extras will bump up the price ; Design isn't as slick as ultrabook rivals
