Review HP Pavilion m6-1050sg Notebook

Crossfire Power? Compact design with no loss, with entertainment

Aluminium housing; Good input devices; Fingerprint reader; Good sound

Dark display; Arrow keys too small

Bad display for good money.

HP Pavilion M6-1188CA

The HP Pavilion M6-1188CA is a system made for enthusiasts on a budget. It's got some chops in the 3D gaming department, and styling that shows to the world that you don't have just another black utilitarian laptop under your arm.

Backlit Keyboard. Good Battery Life. Good integrated graphics. Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements included. HDMI. 1TB hard drive. Three USB 3.0 ports. Fingerprint reader

No touch screen. Some screen bounce. USB 3.0 ports are black

The HP Pavilion M6-1188CA ($699.99), available in Canada, is a mid-priced performance laptop made for enthusiasts. It's got 3D gaming prowess and bundled Adobe multimedia software going for it, along with a sense of style that's sometimes lacking at...

HP Pavilion m6t-1000 Review

In some ways, the HP Pavilion m6t-1000 is one of the better 15-inch multimedia notebooks we've tested. For $949, consumers walk away with a slim and attractive aluminum system with solid graphics performance and long battery life. Unfortunately, HP...

Attractive modern design, Spacious backlit keyboard, Solid graphics and overall performance, Excellent battery life

Dim screen with narrow viewing angles, No HD display option, Some keyboard flex, Stiff mouse buttons

HP Pavilion m6

When I first saw it at one of HP's many laptop preview events , the Pavilion m6 was intriguing, at least on paper. It was a slim 15-inch laptop, with an optical drive and optional discrete graphics that looked like the middle ground between HP's...

The HP Pavilion m6 adds some high-end details from HP's more expensive laptops, while keeping the price down. This is a highly configurable system, with options for discrete graphics and fast CPUs.

This is just not as solidly built as HP's Envy laptops. The keyboard isn't great, and the low screen resolution feels clunky on a 15-inch laptop.

This near-ultrabook packs in processing and graphics power, along with an optical drive, at a reasonable price. The only real knock against the Pavilion m6 is that some of HP's higher-end systems hardly cost more.

HP Pavilion m6 hands-on

The mid-range HP Pavilion m6 may be unlikely to blow your mind, but if the decent design is matched by solid performance and battery life, this could prove a dependable laptop. We'll be looking for processing grunt and impressive battery life when it...

Reasonably slim ; Optional graphics and keyboard backlight ; Decent array of ports

Optional extras will bump up the price ; Design isn't as slick as ultrabook rivals

"Just a BAD buy! Problems without any upside"

I've only had it a year with low to medium usage and it's been in the shop twice. And the speed only seems marginally better than my 6 year old Toshiba. I really wish I would have gone with one of my other choices.

Can't think of any. The speed is ordinary. Everything else is unremarkable.

Beats Audio is a scam (had better sound on my 5 year old Toshiba). Keyboard doesn't always register keystroke (had replaced twice). SD card slot didn't hold card (they had to replace it and the motherboard). Compressed up/down arrow keys hard to hit.

"Nice performance"

The keyboard with lights and the price are the 2 best things in this computer... and the beats sound too.

The keyboard fails sometimes.
