HP Pavilion tx2000z review: HP Pavilion tx2000z

HP Pavilion tx2000z

Dual-mode active pen and touch screen makes tablet use easier and more accurate than last year's model; includes credit-card remote control; excellent battery life; handy controls built into lid.

Slightly bigger and heavier than a 12-inch laptop should be; limited configuration options; battery is large and makes for slightly awkward setup; missing a FireWire jack.

HP's Pavilion tx2000 combines a convertible tablet design with an entertainment-focused laptop to create an interesting hybrid, thanks to an improved tablet screen and mini remote control.

HP Pavilion tx2000z

The HP Pavilion tx2000z tries to correct its predecessor's mistake by having both Wacom and touch-screen functions, but its processor can heat up over time.

Added Wacom capabilities. Built-in optical drive. Good battery life. Dual microphones.

Heavier than most tablets. AMD parts give off heat. Mouse buttons are hard to press. Too much "bloatware."

HP Pavilion tx2000z Review

The tx2000z feels solid and weighs in around 4.3 pounds, but it still has the same plastic housing which shows some signs of flex. It gets a little heavy to carry around in tablet mode, but it does come packed full of features and you can always...

Active digitizer and touchscreen ; Solid keyboard ; Great entertainment features ; Mini remote control (same as tx1000z) ; Reasonable price

A little on the heavy side ; Screen can be extremely reflective in well lite areas

The tx2000z has that personal feel that you don't find in many tablets especially with its sleek glossy appearance

Review: HP Pavilion tx2000z Tablet PC

HP's tx2000z is something that we don't actually see a whole lot of: a tablet designed for home users. Despite having been around for a few years now, tablet PCs have grown a more secure foothold in the business segment than the home one. We still see...

The computer is very hot

- The computer is very hot. Friends comment on it. It's uncomfortable at times when it is on your lap. - My power transformer melted. It smoked. It was dangerous. And then HP only sent me half of the cord and I had to buy the other ...

Tech support hours are good and the support has been responsive at responding to issues

Hot, melting, poor stylus tracking, slow to convert to tablet mode, generally slow
