Review HP ProBook 6540b WD690EA Notebook

Office decathlete. The 15.6" ProBook wants to hold its ground in

High performance for applications; Rapid hard drive; Stable case; Matt display; Good contrasts; Good feedback from the keyboard and touchpad; Good battery life; Many connection ports (Serial !); Minimal heat loss

High audibility under load; Single-speaker

Toshiba Tecra A11-125: For 760 Euro also with a good keyboard but only in HD-Ready. Fujitsu Lifebook S710: For 900 Euro extremely quiet but with a low-grade construction.

HP ProBook 6540b (WH431PA) business notebook

A well stocked, well priced HP business notebook

Easy-to-use management features, plenty of connectivity, comfortable to use, 7200rpm hard drive, hard drive encryption

Touchpad buttons stuck when pressed, low screen resolution

HP's ProBook 6540b is a well-priced business notebook with plenty of features. Its performance and battery life are more than adequate and the management software that comes with it is very easy to set up and use. The only problem with our review unit...

HP ProBook 6540b

HP's ProBook 6540b may seem like every other business laptop that has come our way, but it manages to hold a few surprises, both odd and pleasing.

Good connectivity. Nice keyboard. 7200rpm hard drive.

Small arrow keys. Average battery life.

The HP 6540b is a great value business laptop that offers a plethora of connectivity options while providing the latest hardware to help improve your productivity. It won't win any style or performance awards, but it does its job well.

HP ProBook 6540b review

We loved its matt display, battery life and build quality of this laptop, but its extra business-oriented features mean that it's expensive and you can get a better-specified laptop for less.

HP ProBook 6540b

HP's ProBook 6540b is a full-sized 15.6-inch notebook, with a keyboard far better suited to long hours of office work than most of today's size-conscious portables.

The real advantages of the ProBook 6540b are its screen size and keyboard quality. Its high performance does make it useful as a potential desktop replacement, though this usefulness is limited by the integrated graphics. A good option for general...

HP ProBook 6540b review

It’s not flashy, but the dour-looking ProBook ticks the right boxes elsewhere: Intel’s Core i5 processor means that there’s plenty of power available, battery life is on the right side of five hours, and build quality is top-notch. Couple this with an...
