Review HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4000eg Ultrabook

High-priced Ultrabook. HP integrates Thunderbolt technology, a FullHD touchscreen, and a fast solid state disk into a premium Ultrabook made from aluminum, magnesium, and glass. The latest in technology doesn't come cheap though: the Spectre XT...

IPS display with high contrast ratio ; Good keyboard ; Fast SSD ; Solid chassis ; Appealing loooks ; Mini DisplayPort ; Thunderbolt

Mediocre battery life ; Only 4 GB RAM standard ; Installed RAM operates in single-channel memory mode

The Spectre XT TouchSmart's battery life equals that of some notebooks retailing for 400 Euros (~$540)

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4010nr Ultrabook

While the HP Spectre TouchSmart XT was one of the first Windows 8 laptops we previewed way back in August 2012, we've only recently gotten our hands on the final shipping version of it. In many ways it's been worth the wait, as this is one of the only...

Slim, sharp design, a high-quality keyboard, touch pad, and speakers, and a Thunderbolt port all help the Spectre XT stand out from the Windows 8 crowd.

For well over $1,000, one might expect discrete graphics or better battery life.

The HP Spectre TouchSmart XT is a rare superslim 15-inch laptop with a touch screen, but for the premium price, it should include more high-end extras.

"Great Sound (Beats). Great Speed. Great Computer"

Buy it because I cant put it in words

The good thing I liked about this computer is that it is fast, has a fast TC, and core processor. It is just amazing

I could have asked for a slightly more responsive TC (touch screen)

"DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. PERIOD."

To set the stage, I am a retired nuclear engineer. I have worked with computers for over 40 years, and personally hold several software and hardware patents. I think I have a pretty good understanding of electronics and electrical components - having...

A very nice laptop - for the 4 days that it worked.

I did not encounter any.

"Great all around thin laptop"

The Spectre XT Touchsmart is an amazing machine. My configuration has a core i7, 500GB Hard drive, 1920x1080 IPS screen, Windoes 8 Pro.

Its thin and light. Also is very speedy with my core i7 configuration. The 1920x1080 screen is amazing. Touch screen is amazingly responsive

I wish HP could have made the laptop's screen not move as much while trying to use the touchscreen.

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4000ea review

HP's Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4000ea is certainly an attractive and well-built laptop. However, it does stretch even Intel's vague definition of the term ‘Ultrabook' to the limit. And beyond.
