Lenovo ThinkPad T480s review

Robust build quality ; Decent battery life ; Excellent connectivity ; Good touchpad and keyboard

Subpar display ; Thicker and heavier than alternatives ; Expensive

The ThinkPad T480s doesn’t make as much sense as its predecessors. It’s not as thin and light as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, and its performance likely isn’t any better when comparing the same processor configurations. While its build is robust, and the...

Lenovo ThinkPad T480

Lenovo's ThinkPad T480 is the very definition of a workhorse business laptop, with a killer keyboard and a nifty hot-swappable battery. (Just spend the extra bucks for the bigger power pack.)

Swoon-worthy keyboard. Strong performance. Hot-swappable battery. Attractive 1080p touch screen.

A little heavier than rivals. Standard battery lacks stamina.

Bottom Line: Lenovo's ThinkPad T480 is the very definition of a workhorse business laptop, with a killer keyboard and a nifty hot-swappable battery. (Just spend the extra bucks for the bigger power pack.)

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s

The 14-inch Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is well-rounded workhorse laptop, but it can't escape the shadow of its superslim sibling, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.

Durable carbon-fiber chassis. Stellar keyboard. Quiet operation. Useful selection of ports, including Thunderbolt.

Dim display. X1 Carbon is thinner, lighter, and only slightly pricier.

Bottom Line: The 14-inch Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a well-rounded workhorse laptop, but it can't escape the shadow of its superslim X1 Carbon sibling.

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s Review

The ThinkPad T480s ($1,429 to start and as tested) offers strong performance and over 11 hours of battery life in a durable, business-friendly, 3-pound package. It has an 8th Gen Intel Core processor that provides solid performance, and a ThinkShutter...

Fast performance; Long-lasting battery life; Built-in camera cover

Dim display

The ThinkPad T480s is a speedy and long-lasting business laptop with a camera cover for the privacy conscious, but its display could be better.

Lenovo ThinkPad T480 (i7-8550U, MX150, FHD) Laptop Review

Not only for students. The new 14-inch ThinkPad T480 is being offered right now at a large discount through Lenovo's Campus Program. The business laptop is set to follow in the footsteps of its successful predecessor T470 (91%). Our review device comes...

Thunderbolt 3 ; webcam cover (ThinkShutter) ; WWAN-ready, SmartCard reader, fingerprint scanner, NFC, TPM, Computrace ; good keyboard (with a backlight) & good touchpad ; display is bright and contrasty ; strong CPU & GPU, hardly any loss of power ;...

display is too sensitive to pressure ; screen-bleeding ; poor color-space coverage ; fragile bottom cover (maintenance) ; throttling on battery power ; SSD is handicapped through a slow connection ; underside can get really hot

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 does a lot right and has no real flaws. The display that is very sensitive to pressure as well as the slowed-down but still mighty fast SSD are the main points of criticism that we have for the ThinkPad T480. As a matter of...

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s (i7-8550U, MX150 Max-Q) Laptop Review

Even more versatile thanks to GeForce. We just recently tested the ThinkPad T480s, the latest model in a long series of high-quality 14 inch T series ThinkPads. Now we're testing the same model – this time with a stronger CPU and the GeForce MX150...

high-quality chassis ; excellent peripherals ; long battery life ; very good matte WQHD panel ; combination of modern and established ports ; WWAN ready ; 3 years warranty ; well performing hardware ; lightning fast PCIe-SSD ; many security features ;...

i7 slower than i5 under continuous load ; unrefined CPU performance management (fixed with BIOS 1.11) ; CPU throttling in battery mode ; high surface temperatures ; bad speakers ; ThinkShutter camera cover only included with bad HD webcam

The T480s is a very balanced and high-quality business notebook. The dedicated Nvidia GeForce MX150 (regardless of being a Max-Q version) does make it more versatile, by making it suitable for casual gamers. Though the execution is not quite perfect....

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s (i5, WQHD) Laptop Review

New revision. Lenovo equips the ThinkPad T480s with a new chassis and closes the gap towards its own ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Intel's latest quad-core processors are obviously included as well. We checked the SKU with the high-resolution WQHD IPS panel.

high quality chassis ; excellent input devices ; long battery runtime ; very good matte WQHD panel ; combination of modern and familiar ports ; WWAN-ready ; 3-year warranty ; good performance utilization ; fast PCIe-SSD ; many security features

high surface temperatures ; drivers not perfectly optimized yet ; bad speakers ; ThinkShutter camera cover only with the bad HD webcam

The ThinkPad T480s is a very interesting device and probably the most complete 14-inch business laptop from Lenovo right now. The previous model still suffered from some drawbacks, and most of them have been fixed for the 2018 edition.Back to old...

Lenovo ThinkPad T480s review: A solid business workhorse with all-day battery life

Lenovo's ThinkPad T-series laptops are designed to deliver the performance and durability required by demanding business users. They are not the most portable devices in the ThinkPad lineup, but with 14-inch and 15-inch screens they offer plenty of...
