Review Lenovo IdeaPad U510 Ultrabook

Stylish. Those who value style and design would not buy a rough-c

Good battery life; Energy efficient; Good speakers; Very quiet, except for the DVD; Good performance

Low brightness; Uneven illumination; Bad keyboard feedback; Noisy DVD drive; Bendable base unit; Low gaming performance with the i3; Mini VGA without adapter; Poor webcam

The lowest priced 14- and 15-inch (with DVD drive) notebooks are Acer Aspire V5-431 (from 400 Euros), V5-571PG (680 Euros) und Medion Akoya S4216 (600 Euros).

My first laptop

This is my first laptop, so I'm probably easy to impressed. I got advice from a tech genius on this laptop, so I'm confident that it will do the job for me. I do typical internet surfing and research, and some object-based website development. I store...

These aren't necessarily cons, but something of which to be aware. Windows 8 takes some getting used to. The Start screen relies on apps rather than the usual sites. Navigate from your desktop to the actual site to see the accounts you're used to...

Good Laptop for the money

People are sure complaining about it being cheap, or a bad product. The reality is that it's a $500-600 laptop, not a $2,500 Mac. Get over it.

Inexpensive. Backlit keyboard is nice, as well as the number pad on the side

Windows 8 is for 8th grade girls looking for the next "app" to download. Windows 8 is terrible. But that's not Lenovo's fault. My only complaint about the computer so far is the plastic cover surrounding the keyboard keeps popping up

Very pleased so far

its got a quick boot time and to me beats out everything at its price range. It does what i want quickly and I'm happy with it. pretty thin

keyboard does jiggle a bit, but has not been a problem

I love this computer

When I first ordered the laptop the touchpad was not connected properly and I was able to get into the system regardless of use of a cursor and I tried downloading the software for the touchpad but it could not detect it which means there was something...

It is a great design it works wonderfully. I love the back-lit keyboard. The touchpad works great! Very similar to a mac . I know people are saying that it is really jumpy but personally I like this touchpad and you can always adjust the settings

My only con is Windows 8 ... I have not gotten windows 8.1 yet but I will soon and hopefully it is better. The touchpad did not work when I got it but newegg replaced the laptop for me and paid for all shipping costs

Cannot boot on arrival

Cannot say since the laptop was not able to boot

I got one that cannot boot upon arival. I immedeately called to Lenovo and was told to return this defective laptop to the seller immediately. I am waiting for a replacement

So far so good...

I guess time will tell. Maybe the problems others have reported took time to develop. So far I am pretty happy.

I have only had the laptop a few days but so far everything is working great. I have not seen the reported issues of the pointer jumping around nor has it had any problems reconnecting to wi-fi after hibernation. I really like having the lighted...

Not sure why the touchpad is offset to the left. It isn't causing any issues for me but it seems a little odd. I'm not a fan of Windows 8 just yet but I'm sure I will adjust

Bad power brick - not great support experience

Out of the box, the laptop would not keep charged (first noticed as the screen dimming and the power button blinking even when plugged in). Call to Lenovo tech support was very frustrating - they kept asking me to do things that didn't make sense and...

Decent specs for the price. Performs appropriately for the specs

Terribly frustrating tech support
