Guild Wars 2 Benchmarked

A breath of fresh air. ArenaNet believes it can dethrone World of Warcraft with new - and sometimes unconventional - changes to the MMO genre. Can a company made of ex-Blizzard employees strike gold with a subscription-free MMO? We test the game with a...

We are planning to review Borderlands 2, F1 2012 and Fifa 13 in September

Lenovo Essential G580 59371414 Dark Brown 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3230M Processor (2.60GHz 1600MHz 3MB)

There is no glory in being basic or entry-level when it comes to laptops. Yet, for many of us, all the computer that's needed is something that spends most of its time in one place and handles Web browsing, social networking, e-mail, word processing,...

The Lenovo G580 provides good processing performance for the money; it boots quickly; it has a full keyboard with number pad and an optical drive; and its speakers and Webcam perform well.

The G580 is thick and heavy. Battery life is less than 4 hours. Navigating Windows 8 with the touch pad takes some practice. There was no Bluetooth in the version we reviewed.

For basics on a budget, the Lenovo G580 gets the job done. Just don't skimp on the configuration.

Lenovo G580

The Lenovo G580 offers strong Core i5 performance and robust sound for a very low price, but the touchpad can be finicky.

Good overall performance; Sturdy keyboard; Quality webcam; Very affordable

Finicky touchpad; Worse graphics than similarly priced AMD notebooks; Below-average battery life

Click to EnlargeFor $469, the Lenovo G580 delivers speedier performance and a brighter, sharper display than similarly priced competitors. However, this notebook's inconsistent touchpad proved frustrating, and its battery life could be better. Although...

Very nice after you set everything the way you like it

Luckily, I managed to get Win7 installed and there is full driver support on the Lenovo website.

The i3 performs very well, being a dual core with 4 threads. 4GB of ram is enough to do simple tasks, and even some low-end games. The design feels sturdy and looks good with an appealing keyboard layout. The HDD performs much better than I expected...

Low resolution of 1366x768, but I knew that when I bought it ; Windows 8. It really is just as confusing as everyone makes it out to be. Lenovo also made it very difficult to install any other OS on here

Specs good - quality bad

This seems to be a decent laptop for the price

The touchpad was unusable on the device I got. Also, the computer would not stay shut down. It automatically boots unless you pull and re-install the battery. The motherboard looks like it has a place for 2 ram slots, but only one was populated....

Nice budget & gaming laptop

A great buy for work and some little play. It is lighter than you would expect it to be. Overall a great buy, don't hesitate at the checkout.

Just bought this laptop to be more mobile, but needed something that could play LOL (League of Legends) with little difficulty ; This laptop was perfect for what I needed. It is built very well with a nice light metal frame. It comes with two memory...

The wifi adapter that comes with this computer is not very good. If you want to game I recommend getting a wireless adapter. I have a N300 On Networks adapter and it works very well

For the price you cant go wrong

For less than $400 what more can you ask for? If not don't want it for gaming it's got to be the best option in this price range.

Bought it on sale just for a portable league of legends rig and it works for that. Also plays minecraft and dirt 3

While it does play lol it doesn't do it extremely well. Had to turn all settings to very low and resolution to 720 to get 60 fps. Not the fastest laptop in the world but a ssd would certainly help immensely. Windows 8 isn't my favorite but it's...

Solid laptop with a great processor

In all honesty, most people complain about the touchpad. When I first received the laptop, I too had problems. Make sure to change the sensitivity settings for the ELAN Pointing Device in the sys tray. The laptop itself is very fast, and very stable....

Could be better performance for the processor.....

It won't upgrade ram at all and is all plastic kind of cheap could be better
