Review Lenovo G550 Notebook

Goodbye IBM. Lenovo's G550, part of its 'Value Line' range, was d ...

Comfortable keyboard with number pad ; Casing has a matt finish ; Good peformance

Reflective display ; Limited choice and poor positioning of ports

That Lenovo's marketing talks in all seriousness of 'supercharged graphics and gaming', despite the G550's basic graphics set-up

Lenovo G550 Review

The new Lenovo G550 is an update to the Value Line G530 with the primary difference being the shift from a 16:10 to a 16:9 screen. This is becoming a common trend for most manufacturers, as they shift to the now more standardized 16:9 screens. The...

Almost tough enough to stand on ; Textured interior and exterior finish hides smudges and fingerprints ; Comfortable and solid keyboard

Missing features from previous revision

Lenovo transitioned to a new touchpad on the G550, switching from the Synaptics model on the G530 to an ALPS pad. The ALPS pad doesn't have as quick of a refresh rate, so at times it feels like the pointer is lagging behind your finger. Another problem...

Handles All Tasks Well

I can't believe this model is currently selling on Amazon for $649.88, considering what I paid for it. I was worried when purchasing entry level Lenovo. Previously considered HP, Asus, Dell and other more well-known brands, but this Lenovo has not...

I purchased this "economy" laptop for my wife last Christmas at Newegg on "Black Friday" for a great price-- $360.00 including shipping. We are completely satisfied with the speed and memory of this model. Also, Windows 7 is great. Totally happy

None-after nearly 1 year of flawless performance, no regrets. I took a chance and went for the deal amd it worked out-good battery life, fast ,great for all-around home computing or travelling. Sorry, but there are no negatives. Would recommend Lenovo

Super Duper Economy Laptop / Notebook

I couldn't be happier with this machine. As an economy laptop it outperformed my expectations exceptionally well. Windows 7 is great. I don't feel the need for linux at all (pronounced "Lyin' Yucks" btw) Updated on Jan 21, 2010

Smooth chassis and keyboard, touchpad slick and responsive, screen bright and clear, powerful enough to do just about everything with ease. Video capable of DDO at 'very high' graphics, or better at 'high' graphics

Screen only capable of 60Hz. Speakers wimpy but adequate for laptop performance, ok for voice, music weak. Occasional Windows 7 burps and hiccups that are easily and mostly automatically corrected (one time i had to logout, when widgets vanished)

I bought this PC for one thing only. It is used to keep data for my wife so she does not go onto the internet often. The only thing I would change is the chip, the celeron is not as fast as I would like it to be...

Disappointed...Just Under 2 Years of Use!

I purchased this laptop in September 2010...and by August 2012 the video card was gone and renders it useless...I am extremely disappointed...luckily though my hard drive was saved!
