My New Lenovo

Upgraded from an HP Laptop with a 460 m i5 processor and 8GB memory. This new laptop runs amazingly fast compared to the old one.

Fully Windows 7 Compatible ; Plays Minecraft on default settings perfectly (Much better Than I Expected ; Touchpad on mine works better than expected ; Can play Age of Empires 3 on Max graphics settings with no AA ; So far battery life is good ; Does...

Integrated Processor struggles with anything above Low on Saints Row 3, but that was expected ; Windows 8, it was terrible ; The bottom cover on this laptop, does not allow access for heatsink or heatsink fan removal ; The oddball 20v power adapter ;...

Nice Screen, Battery life, Mouse pad

The keyboard stopped working 1 month after I got it

F2 upon boot gets you into the bios. As prior reviewer instructed change boot from UEFI to Legacy, and on the last tab, Exit, change from Windows 8 to other OS.

Super fast and reliable after Plextor SSD and Win7 update. Win7 drivers are readily available on the Lenovo website, thumbs up to Lenovo. This laptop has the best bang for the buck that I have seen

It won't boot from DVD but will boot from USB flash drive for Win7 OS installation. Glossy finish shows fingerprints. Bios is confusing at first but efficient after short learning curve

IT Retired

Go into UEFI bios and select Legacy support as boot mode and then Legacy first for boot priority. This should work on all Lenovo products. Most vendor help desks do not know this. You can then install any OS. I purchased 16GB latency 10 ram from Newegg...

Great performance after installing Win 7. HD4000 graphics. Battery life is good for a small battery. Low heat output

Win 8 is not as good as XP or 7. The fast boot for 8 is only because memory is powered on

Excellent laptop

Good size, excellent speed, and I was able to find/install Windows 7 drivers

Came with Windows 8 preinstalled. Ugh

Fantastic computer

Have read other reviews concerning wireless issues. I have never had it drop my connection yet.

Handles the games I want to play. Minecraft, Fear 3, etc ; Very cool operation. I love the dedicated 10 key

Haven't had any. I received exactly the laptop that I wanted

lenovo IdeaPad G580 (59344054)

Gave it 4 eggs as my initial rating because of packaging for shipping and Win8 as only OS choice at purchase. I will give better evaluation after this is used. I think another 4gb of Ram & Win 7 would really sweeten this laptop. But I figured this...

This is my first impression as I just received it today ; Appears well built ; Nice looking ; Booted right up with zero issues ; Fairly fast before bloatware & un-needed progs are removed ; Sweet keyboard ; Sweet screen and sound

WINDOWS 8 SUCKS ; Will have to wait the initial 30 days to install windows 7 so I do not void Newegg warranty. Too bad I was not offered option to choose Windows 7 over windows 8 as OS ; Not boxed very well to ship. Really Newegg gambles not having...

I like it

IT has the best sound you can ever hear. With the Dolby v2 sound software, it makes you feel like you are in a movie theater when you are watching. I like how light the laptop is. It is perfectly weighted so it is easy to carry around

I have a tought time with Windows 8. This really has nothing to do with the laptop only the OS (operating Software). THere are times where I have to reset my TCP/IP and my winsock to get back on the internet, but that has to do with the windows 8 not...

Fast, cheap, decent. Bad bugs.

If you can get around the bugs, it works well

This thing is quick thanks to the i5 processor, decent preconfigured setup, has HDMI out, generally a good value

It's also cheap. Not awesome support from Lenovo so you're not gonna have fun if you are not a great troubleshooter. Needs a serious firmware update for BIOS to address the not being able to boot from CD/DVD - I got it to successfully boot from USB,...

Black Friday

While I did not purchase this for gaming, it runs older games such as Team Fortress 2 and Day of Defeat: Source. I have not yet tested Dota 2 or League of Legends. I probably would have skipped out on the Windows 8 and stayed with Windows 7. It also...

Lightweight and it's keyboard has a great feel. No missing pixels from the screen. The charger is a decent length ; Overall a good purchase coming from a 1.5ghz single-core Dell laptop from a few years ago

Seems a little flimsy, so I don't ever plan on dropping this IdeaPad. I would recommend buying a ~$30 carrying case if you are taking this to work/class
