Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2 15 Notebook Review

Flexibility on a budget. Lenovo's expansive Flex lineup continues with the updated 15.6-inch model in time for the back-to-school season. We check out both the chassis and performance to see if this inexpensive touchscreen notebook is an improvement...

1080p IPS touchscreen option, USB 3.0 and optical drive, Backlit AccuType keyboard, Brushed aluminum palm rests and glass edge-to-edge display, Removable panel underneath, No throttling issues, Quiet when idle, 1080p IPS option for very wide viewing...

1080p IPS option is expensive, Weak backlight for outdoor use, Average build quality, Keyboard and touchpad have poor travel and feedback, Li-ion battery can no longer be quickly swapped, Slow hybrid drive, No VGA-out, Removable battery and improved...

The Lenovo Flex 2's touchscreen with a 300-degree hinge is a nice feature for the price. While it delivers decent benchmark results, however, its keyboard, display, and battery life disappoint.

Good price-to-performance ratio for its display size ; DVD burner ; Operates in stand and laptop modes

Disappointing battery life ; Dim display ; Limited to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi

The Lenovo Flex 2's perks include a roomy touchscreen on a 300-degree hinge, plus a DVD burner and a hybrid hard drive, all for a reasonable price. The trade-offs: poor battery life, a dim display, and no

Lenovo Flex 2 (15-Inch)

Lenovo'a Flex 2 is a reasonably priced, capable 15-inch desktop-replacement laptop with a unique 300-degree folding display.

1080p 10-point touch screen can fold back up to 300 degrees. Strong volume from speakers. Comfortable keyboard with numeric keypad

Heavy. Short battery life

The Lenovo Flex 2 (15-inch) ($679.99, as tested) is a desktop-replacement laptop in every sense of the word. It is large, with a 15.6-inch touch screen, and offers plenty of connectivity and entertainment features, including a DVD drive. Due to its...

Lenovo Flex 2 15 Review

The Lenovo Flex 2 offers solid performance and a full-HD touch display that flips into stand mode for a budget price.

Solid performance; Snappy, responsive keyboard; Crisp full-HD display; Useful app selection

No tablet mode; Below-average battery life; Muddy audio playback

The Lenovo Flex 2 offers solid performance and a full-HD touch display that flips into stand mode for a budget price.

Lenovo Flex 2 15 review

Lenovo's Flex 2 15 is a fundamentally solid notebook with a 1080p touchscreen.

Enjoyable keyboard ; 1080p at a low price ; Solid processor and storage performance ; More portable than most affordable 15-inchers ; Good value

Bland aesthetics ; Finicky touchpad ; Lackluster connectivity

No one should buy the Lenovo Flex 2 15 because of its trick hinge. Yes, getting the keyboard out of the touchscreen’s way can be useful, but it’s a minor convenience we think many owners will try once and promptly forget about. Windows 8.1 isn’t a...

Attractive price, Laptop and stand modes expand its usefulness, Full 1080p touch screen, An optical drive

Bulky and hefty, Merely OK battery life, Stand mode leaves keys exposed on the underside, Low-res Webcam

The biggest plus, of course, is the flexibility to flip the system into stand mode when the mood strikes you. Indeed, we think stand mode is more useful than Lenovo's Yoga machines' full-monty tablet mode: Unlike a detachable, a convertible still...

Lenovo Flex 2 15 review

Lenovo's budget laptop falls apart at the seams

Sharp, colorful display ; Decent speakers

Cheaper design ; Squishy inputs ; Excessive screen glare ; Heavy on bloatware

As a budget machine, the Lenovo Flex 2 15 offers some very big pluses where many others falter. Users won't find many other $700 transforming notebook options, let alone ones with a 1080p screen. The Acer Aspire R7 comes closest with it's head turning...

Out of the box and connected, it was set to download the updates and there were many. I made sure all the updates were applied and all the silly trial ware and apps I did not want were completely uninstalled with IOBIT uninstaller. Did CCleaner, Smart...

Runs good. I have not experienced any unexpected issues. Good battery life

The unit did freeze up on me at first as I was using it but realized it was downloading and installing critical updates. No problems once they were all installed and the freeware and trialware was all uninstalled (a must)

Lenovo Flex 2-15

Do Not Buy! You will not be able to upgrade the horrible wifi card and sdd, with out spending a fortune on a limited list of lenovo approved hardware. Check out the masses of people unhappy at lenovo in their support forum because of hardware whitelists.

1. Clear and good looking screen ; 2. Using the laptop in tablet mode with the keyboard as a stand turned out the be very convenient for in bed anime watching

1. The M.2 wifi adapter in this thing is horrible, it has known issues, and I blame my self for buying this laptop with out doing my research ; 2. The hybrid drive/sdd is slow ; 3. The laptop only contains one m.2 interface inside and that is used but...

A decent laptop

Overall a solid choice for me. At this point I would buy again as it has a decent combination of power, options and price. Have used for 5 months now with zero problems. If something does break or fail early, I'll update here.

No issues. This is a decent, everyday laptop. Using as a desktop replacement over old, dated company provided PC. Versatility with screen rotation, touchscreen, tablet-like functionality, but I don't use these features that often. Keyboard lighting can...

Has somewhat of a flimsy feel. Clearing off Lenovo bloatware. Fixing Windows 8.1 GUI to run like 7. Battery life is average at best
