Review Lenovo IdeaPad U160 Subnotebook

Powerless. Lenovos 11.6-incher is the cheapest alternative to the

Fast, quiet hard drive; Low weight; Bright display; Quiet; eSATA-port; Touchpad keys

Low performance from the 520UM; Short battery life; High heat emissions; Glare-type TFT

The poor performance of the i5-520UM in all benchmarks. The otherwise good U160 is in poor shape when it comes to this. A defective chip? Or did Lenovo dial down the juice in favor of better battery life?

With a 1GHz Celeron processor and just 2GB RAM, this isn't the kind of laptop that will set pulses racing. Its price and weight are two low figures that are more attractive, though. After using it for a while, we found ourselves growing to like it...

Around the same size and price as a netbook, but more powerful and with a higher screen resolution – an excellent budget choice.
