Review Lenovo IdeaPad U410-MAH6MGE Notebook

Aluminum armor on the cheap (?). This statement does not necessarily apply to raw material prices. Lenovo is trying to bring top quality materials to the masses at nominal prices, as seen in the IdeaPad series. So, is investing in an IdeaPad U410...

Stable, well-manufactured aluminum case ; Excellent feel ; Great, precise, big glass touchpad ; Relatively quiet fan ; SSD boost drive

Poor wifi reception ; Dark, reflective screen (not outdoor suitable) ; Cramped right key row (typos) ; (Virtually) superfluous, dedicated GPU

That a dedicated graphics card is installed which offers lower performance sometimes than the integrated graphics. If an ultrabook is to be marketed with a dedicated "high-performance" GPU, it should add value to the product

Lenovo IdeaPad U410

The Lenovo IdeaPad U410 is an affordable Ultrabook that offers strong performance in a striking design.

Click to EnlargeUnder that arresting Ruby Red chassis, the $799 Lenovo IdeaPad U410 has a lot going for it. Packed with Ivy Bridge and discrete Nvidia graphics, this sub-$800 Ultrabook is a mobile powerhouse that will appeal to both consumers and...

Lenovo IdeaPad U410 (Intel Core i5, Ivy Bridge) Review

Lenovo has launched its latest line of IdeaPads, and they're targeted directly at the mainstream consumer. The Lenovo IdeaPad U410 comes with an eye-catching colored aluminum chassis – we received one in Sapphire Blue, but the U410 is also available in...

Additionally, you’re paying a fair price for what you’re getting. Prices range depending on what you want under the hood, but the model we received – which is by no means a slouch – has a price tag of $799. That’ll prove to be a pretty attractive price...

Lenovo IdeaPad U410 Review: Trying To Keep Up

Before Intel released the ultrabook standard there were already laptops that we're close to what Intel would envision, and while some had already gained attention on their own, most were not given any special attention. One of these laptops was the...

Lenovo IdeaPad U410

Ask us to recommend a thin, stylish ultrabook, and we won't be tongue-tied or shy: Recent Editors' Choices include the newly refreshed Apple MacBook Air 13.3-inch, the gorgeously 1080p-screened Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD-DB71, and Lenovo's...

Good keyboard for an ultrabook ; Dedicated graphics ; Three color options

Screen resolution could be higher ; Low-end graphics don't offer a huge real-world boost over Ivy Bridge integrated chipset ; Keyboard not backlit

This well-rounded 14-inch ultrabook sports a great keyboard plus dedicated graphics for a little extra gaming performance. Our main complaint is that its screen is stuck at the same 1,366x768 resolution as lesser models.

Lenovo IdeaPad U410 Ultrabook Review

One of the latest systems to be released in the Ultrabook category is Lenovo's U410 which has a hefty advertising campaign behind it and GeForce GPU inside. Today we have one on our test bench and will see how it compares to the last generation system...

Lenovo offer a very good balance of performance, quality and value. One of the better Ultrabooks for gaming and plenty fast in normal desktop use.

Warning - 10/100 LAN card!

Fairly powerful for the price

No Gigabit LAN, only 10/100. In the specs, but have not seen a 10/100 in a laptop in years so I overlooked it

OS was a lie

Seemed like it was going to be a great ultrabook. Very slim, sleek, booted up quickly, very quiet

Was advertised that it came loaded with Windows 7, that was not the case. I booted it up, and surprise surprise, I'm looking at Windows 8. I selected this particular laptop based on certain criteria, one of which was the OS. Boxed it, sent it back

Good Price for Solid Performance

Just a few annoyances so far that I have. The power manager sucks compared to those of the past. Not as customizable as far as how you want everything managed. Windows 8. I know this isn't Lenovo's fault but it is installed on this machine and although...

For the specs and pricing, this is a very competitive ultrabook. The core i5 is more than enough for me in class when taking notes, doing powerpoints, and browsing around on the internet. However, when in the Power Saver mode, the performance is...

The keyboard! I've owned 2 Lenovo ThinkPads before this Ideapad and I'm very disappointed by the build quality overall, espcially the keyboard. The other 2 laptops were solid and very sturdy; able to withstand years of being tossed into my backpack and...

Good laptop, bad for dual boot

The top and bottom (show in black in the image) are aluminum, which is nice, but the inside surfaces (shown in silver) are all plastic. Not necessarily bad, but it gives it a little bit cheaper feel.

SSD configuration does make the machine boot quickly. It's fairly light and has decent battery life. Stays pretty cool

The one con for me is that because of the very unusual drive configurations, dual booting on this is extremely difficult. If you have any interest in installing another OS alongside Windows, I would highly advise against this laptop. If you are only...
