Lenovo Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

Lenovo's ThinkPad line is synonymous with business class, but the company's newer IdeaPad series tries to fly coach. In fact, Lenovo's sub-$1000 IdeaPad Y510 vaults into the upper reaches of our most recent all-purpose laptops chart, largely on the...

Hardy construction ; A multimedia machine with great speakers

Anti-glare screen actually caused glare

Well-built laptop provides middle of the road performance and a sizable hard disk for a good price.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Review

The IdeaPad Y510 is a solid first notebook for Lenovo's new consumer line. The robust sound system and convenient facial recognition software help this budget machine stand out from the pack, even if the orange accents won't appeal to everyone. The...

Feature-packed for the price, Sleek frameless LCD, Responsive facial-recognition capabilities, Impressive speakers, Button for power management

Heavier than competing 15.4-inch systems, Overly reflective glossy screen

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 consumer laptop has a great look at a great price, but it could use more configuration options.

Good-looking, textured design. Frameless widescreen is sleek. Keyboard isn't like a ThinkPad's, but it's nice. Five speakers and Dolby surround sound. Budget price.

Available through online retailers and Office Depot only. Limited configurations. No extended battery option. ; Watch the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Video Review!

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510

Lenovo's Y510 represents the company's best crack at the consumer notebook market to date, but theres no doubting this system's ThinkPad heritage.

Distinctive design, Good performance, Veriface recognition

Ordinary battery life, Odd mix of consumer and enterprise design

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Review

The name ThinkPad has been synonymous with business for years and remains one of the single most popular notebook brands for corporate road warriors. But what about average consumers? This is where Lenovo's all new IdeaPad line of notebooks comes to...

Excellent built-in speakers ; Solid construction ; Attractive design ; Nice one-touch power management

Overly glossy/reflective display ; A little heavy compared to competition

Sure, we would have liked to see an HDMI port and dedicated graphics option (here in the US) for a can't-miss multimedia package. But the lack of these features is hardly a deal breaker for most consumers. In fact, the only "serious" negative issue...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Computer with Intel Core2 Duo

This laptop computer review item goes for just under $1000, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 offers a well-rounded package with fairly high performance processor, decent sized screen and enough extras to keep most users happy. Ahead with the notebook computer...

At a tad under 3kg, this is not a light notebook, but makes up for the extra weight with a full house of features. Add to these Lenovo's VeriFace security software, which verifies users by their facial features and you get a very capable machine quite...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 Laptop Review and Ratings

Forget the staid, buttoned-down ThinkPads. Lenovo's first consumer notebook has the same solid construction with casual Friday looks—at an attractive price point. But a too-glossy screen, an absent HDMI port, and poor battery life hamper this otherwise...

Fairly priced ; Great-looking ; Solidly built ; Good performance ; Cool face-recognition security software

Screen is too reflective ; No productivity suite or HDMI port ; Mediocre battery life

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510-300

Although Lenovo is traditionally synonymous with business platforms, its new Y510-300 IdeaPad represents a bold step towards consumer notebooks. With ...

Attractive design, good sound and connectivity, built-in webcam

Limited viewing angle, facial recognition is not a viable security measure and One Key Recovery can cause problems for novice users due to inconvenient partitioning

The Y510-300 is a fairy decent all-purpose notebook suitable for those with a strong budget and an eye for design. With good connectivity and strong hardware performance, just make sure you use the D drive after purchase.

Lenovo 3000 Y510

Lenovo has, over the past couple of years, focused on promoting its Y-range of products as multimedia powerhouses that also boast of good performance. By and large this tactic has worked well for the company. Does the recently introduced Y510 break...

The Y510 has ultimately fallen prey to the same problem that plagued the series earlier: it skimps on performance to offer better multimedia performance. There are similar systems that can be had for cheaper from companies like Dell . Keeping this in...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 (non-Australian model - not rated)

Lenovo has long been a strong force in the business notebook market, and has seemingly opposed or chosen to ignore the ever growing consumer market, t...

Design, easy access power-mode button, facial recognition (while gimmicky is still kind of cool)

Fairly average results from the Dolby tests

Lenovo's first reach into the booming consumer-notebook market looks to be a good one. The IdeaPad Y510 has got style and function, now we just have to see the local build and we'll be happy.
