Review Update Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p (GT 755M SLI) Notebook

Power boost. Lenovo has enhanced the graphics performance of its successful IdeaPad Y510p. The device is now available with either a GeForce GT 750M (SLI) or a GeForce GT 755M (SLI). We grabbed the brand new dual-GPU version and compared its...

Acceptable maintenance possibilities; Moderate noise development; Bright non-glare screen; Performance-money ratio; Backlit keyboard; Decent sound; UltraBay feature

CPU's Turbo sometimes disabled; Unfavorable interface positioning; Sensitive screen bezel; SLI without graphics switching; Wobbly touchpad; Bulky power supply; Micro-stuttering

15-inch gaming machines like the Gigabyte P25W, the One K56-3N2, the MSI GE60H, the Schenker XMG A503 or the Schenker W503.

Review Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p Notebook

The experiment continues. Lenovo's IdeaPad Y500 made quite a spla

Easy to maintain and upgrade; Noise is well controlled; Outstanding performance; Matte Full-HD screen; Backlit keyboard; Easy recovery; JBL speakers; Ingenious UltraBay; ExpressCache; Fair price; 2x USB 3.0

No CPU Turbo under heavy load; Delicate high-gloss elements; Port distribution far from ideal; High temps; Throttling under maximum load; Not a lot of accessories included; Battery life could be better; Wobbly touchpad; Micro-stuttering is an issue;...

15-inch multi-purpose systems with high-end status like the Samsung 770Z5E or the Schenker XMG A523.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p review

Can a Lenovo notebook really stand up to Alienware, Asus, Razer and other veterans of laptop gaming?

Fast CPU and GPU ; Slim for a gaming notebook ; Loud speakers

Very low display quality ; Finicky keyboard and touchpad ; Short battery life ; Runs a bit warm

Lenovo’s Y50 is affordable and reasonably quick, but it does more to damage the company’s gaming reputation than to enhance it. The system’s unforgivable flaw is the display, which would be disappointing on a system sold at half the price. A...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p gaming laptop offers modular upgrades and a sleek design.

An Intel Core i7 processor and dual-GPU system offers solid performance in gaming and productivity. Swappable Ultrabay options let you reconfigure your system as needed. Display, sound, and keyboard are all well made

Short battery life

Like an assassin in a business suit, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p has a sleek, almost professional look that hides powerful gaming hardware within. Lenovo's gaming laptops have always been something of a contradiction, pushing beyond the company's...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P Review

The Lenovo Y510P offers strong performance and a relatively portable form factor at an attractive price.

Portable Design (for gaming notebook) ; Versatility via Ultrabay ; Solid Performance at Affordable Price

Poor Battery Life

With its portable form factor, strong performance and affordable price point the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P delivers on all fronts. Equipped with dual NVidia GT 750M GPUs, 16GB of RAM and a 2.2 GHz fourth generation i7 processor the Y510P is able to tackle...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p

Packing dual GPUs, a 1080p display and JBL speakers, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p is a fantastic gaming notebook for shoppers on a budget.

Very good graphics performance; Excellent 1080p display; Powerful JBL speakers; Affordable price

A bit heavy for 15-inch notebook; Some keys shrunken; Below-average battery life

Gamers looking to buy a powerful system without breaking the bank will find a lot to love in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p. For only $1,299, the notebook comes loaded with a speedy Haswell quad-core processor, dual Nvidia GPUs in SLI configuration and a 1TB...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p

When the IdeaPad Y510p arrived at the PC Pro office, it was clear its focus is high-performance gaming. With a pitch-black chassis and blood-red backlit keyboard, it's reminiscent of Alienware's intimidating range of dedicated gaming laptops, yet its...

A powerful, well-priced desktop replacement let down only by a below-par display

Good but with one important flaw

The Lenovo is a great computer, but that design flaw is not worth keeping it. Nothing needs to run that hot.

Fast, small and easy to lug around. The keyboard looks nice and I noticed no bending while using it. The CPU and the first GPU ran pretty cool as well (85 max for CPU 80 max for GPU) when running games. The backlighting on the keyboard works great and...

The only flaw I found with this laptop is the second GPU. It appears when they designed older models they had a slightly slower video card via the ultrabay (650m or 750m) which the 750m and 755m are just re-branded 650m but with faster clock speeds and...

I love it.

[] Two more things about the power: a) When you don't have it plugged in the computer goes into power saving mode or something and all your games will suddenly lose about 30 fps. b) In the control panel there is a program to tell your computer how to...

It looks and feels awesome. It doesn't feel cheap or plastic-y to me at all ; They keyboard feels really nice, and looks awesome with red backlit keys ; Speakers are, IMO, pretty darn good for a laptop; you can hear the surround sound in effect ; It's...

The track pad is obviously not the best, as many other people have said before me. However, I don't really know of anyone who actually likes to game with a track pad enough to not have a good mouse ; Windows 8: it isn't as bad as some people make it...

Bad cooling means worthless second GPU

Core i7, handles day to day computing well. got a 25gb SSD instead of the 8gb listed

Second GPU insufficiently cooled which leads to it being throttled and all but useless. If you going to have two graphics cards in a laptop both should be usable. over priced for the power it gives. Cannot recommend it for any modern games even on the...
