Lenovo IdeaPad Y570-086225U Laptop Review

Multimedia Nexus. Desktop replacement notebooks are a dime a doze

NVIDIA's Optimus switchable graphics; The JBL speakers

The weight; Lack of a full HD screen

So if you want a fast notebook for multimedia presentation and occasional gaming, then by all means, grab the Y570.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y570

If you're shopping for a midsize 15.6-inch laptop, there are a lot of choices out there, to put it mildly. For example, Dell and HP make several perfectly fine machines in this category, Dell with its midrange Inspiron and higher-end XPS lines, and HP...

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 looks great and has a surprising amount of configuration flexibility for a mainstream laptop.

The system is brimming with bloatware, and a physical switch for GPU modes is confusing.

A sharp-looking mainstream laptop with decent graphics and some configuration flexibility, the IdeaPad Y570 is a solid alternative to some of the better-known consumer laptop brands.

Would You Like a Computer to Go With Your Shovelware?

Lenovo's IdeaPad series -- the bulkier, cheaper and more consumer-friendly little sibling to the ThinkPad line -- gets little love, but why?

Lenovo Ideapad Y570

If you're looking for a gaming machine, the Y570 is an impressive one. It runs an Nvidia GeForce GT 555 graphics chip and automatically switches to an integrated system when the running task isn't graphics intensive, a technology Nvidia calls Optimus....

Great gaming experience. Excellent keyboard and navigating experience. Two USB 3.0 ports. Nice speaker system. Respectable battery life

Case design is thick, heavy, and unattractive. Higher screen resolution needed

Beneath its lackluster design, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 is a powerful, user-friendly desktop replacement.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 15.6-inch Laptop Review

Lenovo's Y-Series of laptops are meant to be desktop replacements that can handle HD video playback, intense gaming, video editing, and much more.  The Y570 has actually been out for some time, but Lenovo has upgraded it with Intel's second generation...

Price ; Great Performance ; Dedicated graphics ; USB 3.0 ; Awesome speakers

Screen resolution could be bigger

We all know Lenovo for their ThinkPad line, but you are really going to start to know Lenovo for their IdeaPad line.  First the U260, which was one of the most elegant and thin Windows-based notebooks we have seen and now the Y570, which is a laptop...

Lenovo IdeaPad Y570

If a laptop was judged solely by the look of its chassis, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570, a desktop replacement, wouldn't stand a chance. It's black, bulky physique lacks the design appeal that's as essential to a laptop as its parts and features. Underneath...

"Great value, works great"

I replaced a nearly 7-year-old Dell with this. Huge jump.

Plenty. Boots up in 47 second, including login time. With the i7 edition, I don't have any problems running relatively high-demand games on medium-high.

Somewhat noisy fan. The right side of the keyboard is somewhat cramped, and the touchpad occasionally gets in the way while typing (easy to disable). Optimus can also be a bit clunky, along with a somewhat small battery life. Some bloatware.

"Long shipping time from China."

The computer is great once you get it.

Takes way too long to ship from China because they have to build it and they ran out of parts! don't know why the key code takes 3 weeks to ship since it's just a number!

"Great budget gaming or desktop replacement"

I got this as a replacement system from Lenovo customer relations when my y550 had some repetitive issues, and all I can say is WOW (like YEAH, not like the lame game) My system has the I7 2.2 quad core Sandy Bridge processor, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 GB GDDR5...

Super Fast (boots in under 30 seconds)

Screen is not 1080 (but can easily output 1080+ to hdtv or monitor via HDMI
